An immersive dining experience returns to London with just a few tickets left for a new ‘edible journey’ that takes guests around the world through visual and theatrical effects. Created by Gingerline, which made waves in London in the 2010s, the company has returned after a long time in Asia.
The show, called The Grand Exhibition, is inspired by Jules Verne’s Around the World in 80 Days, but with the diner as a Phileas Fogg-style explorer. According to a review by Time Out magazine, visitors travel around the world via hot air balloon and “tourist” with the help of dishes served along the way.
Diners sit in balloon gondolas and travel through animations projected on the walls. The show begins in a fantasy version of London, before diners are whisked off on a journey around the countries of the world.
The show promises to be an “incredible edible journey” that will take you up to the clouds and back down. It includes performances from acrobats and other dancers, along with exquisite sets and imaginative dishes.
Gingerline is careful to keep most of the show a secret, so as not to spoil it for future diners. The performance is 100 minutes long, with more than four courses served throughout.
Most tickets have sold out, but some high-flyer tickets are still available, allowing you to skip the line and enjoy early access to Gingerline’s Welcome Lounge, where you can relax with a cocktail on arrival. The Grand Exhibition, will be played in Dalston with additional tickets on sale shortly.
