It hasn’t been long since Luffy’s Gear 5 rocked the entire One Piece fandom. However, the series reveals that this is not Luffy’s peak.
comic Book Whether from animated movie Whether from one piece The main character’s sudden transformation swept the Internet. With all the odds stacked against him, Luffy suddenly uses the strange powers of his Devil Fruit to transform himself into a mythical creature.
He overpowers the beast king, brings peace to Wano, and frees the people who have suffered for 20 years. Immediately after his transformation, Luffy declares that Gear 5 is his pinnacle. He is confused and laughing uncontrollably.
However, the power he displays in battle is nothing to laugh at. Yet there is one enemy that even Luffy in his prime cannot compete with. WARNING: This article contains spoilers for the Egghead arc of the series!
Why Gear 5 isn’t Luffy’s prime from One Piece

One Piece Chapter 1109 introduces Luffy’s new Gear 5 skill, Gum-Gum Dawn Cymbal. Luffy turns his giant hand into a flat disc that he can throw with his opponent. He uses it against Kizaru and Saturn.
But none of Luffy’s techniques work on the elder. No matter what attack he throws at Saturn, the latter shows no signs of damage and recovers almost instantly. Luffy is the main character of the series and Saturn is definitely not the main villain. It’s clear that Luffy has a hard time with the older one, even though he’s hatching some plans.
So if Gear 5 is truly Luffy’s peak, he wouldn’t have too much trouble defeating Saturn. The story is in the Final Saga and will end in a few years. Meanwhile, Luffy will face enemies far more dangerous and powerful than Saturn. So if you can’t even defeat Saturn with all of Gear 5’s abilities, there’s no way you can take down enemies like Blackbeard or Immu.
No doubt Luffy is incredibly powerful, but Gear 5 is more than enough to defeat villains like Kaido and Kizaru. At this point, it is unclear if the Gear 6 will be part of the series. At the very least, like the Gear 4, the series should introduce a new sub-form of the Gear 5.
But it is certain that the rupee will become stronger in the future. The peak he talks about in the Wano Saga will appear as a weaker version of himself at the end of the story.
