It’s no secret that the past couple of years have posed challenges to those paying household bills all over the country.
With the cost of living crisis in full swing, and the energy price caps rising, we’ve never been more conscious of our energy bills and how we can make sure we aren’t spending more than we need to.
This is why Cadent is sharing its top tips for saving money on energy and keeping warm with less stress this winter.
Phil Burrows, head of customer vulnerability at Cadent said: “We’re always thinking about how we can support people, and how to make customers’ lives better, especially as we approach winter.”
The gas network shared that people could save £100 each year just by turning their heating down by just one degree throughout the year. By making some small, simple changes like this, it says we could all save money on our household energy bills.

Carbon monoxide (CO) is a poisonous gas that can pose a serious threat to health. It’s known as the ‘silent killer’ because you can’t see, hear, smell, taste or touch it, making it difficult to detect.
But you can reduce the risks by:
- Knowing the symptoms of CO poisoning – headaches, nausea, dizziness, breathlessness, and/or loss of consciousness.
- Having audible CO alarms within your home and testing them regularly.
- Ensuring all gas appliances are properly installed and serviced annually by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
- Ensuring all flues are cleaned and chimneys swept annually to prevent blockages.
