Award-nominated STEM tutoring company A-Star Tuitions is preparing to launch a new online learning environment and a revamped progress tracking system for parents, both set to become available at the outset of the 2026-27 school year. The business was founded in 2018 by Debashis and Arunima Saha, who started it after recognising how widespread the need for specialist STEM support had become among secondary school students, and how few accessible, high-quality options existed to meet it.
The latest developments are designed to widen the reach of the company’s teaching while making it easier for parents to remain engaged with their child’s progress throughout.
The timing of the announcement follows a positive period of external recognition for the business. A-Star Tuitions has been shortlisted for two awards at the Kent and London Small Business Awards, Best Home Based Business and Best Online Business, and has joined the 2026 National Tutoring Awards as sponsor of the People’s Choice Award, organised by The Tutors’ Association.
Set for a September 2026 release, the new platform will offer students access to self-paced study materials and learning resources, providing a flexible supplement to the live online sessions the company already offers.
The genesis of A-Star Tuitions is rooted in personal experience. The Sahas’ involvement in supporting their own child through GCSEs gave them a close-up view of the demands that examination preparation places on families, and a clear sense of where better support could make a real difference.
That insight has shaped everything from the company’s teaching philosophy to the student age groups it serves, which now span Year 7 right through to A-Level, with programmes tailored to both one-to-one and group learning.
Central to the A-Star Tuitions model is a belief that the best academic outcomes come not from short bursts of revision support, but from a steady, structured approach to building knowledge and confidence from the ground up.
Arunima articulated the philosophy that guides the team: “It is a simple motto for us: we want to bring out the best in every child. We aim to deliver an exceptional experience for both students and parents through well-planned and focused learning sessions. Our approach combines structure, discipline and encouragement, and every student has potential that we work to unlock.”
Across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 and A-Level, the company supports students in developing a strong grasp of core STEM content, helping them approach exams and further study with confidence rather than anxiety.
Long-term student relationships are something the company actively cultivates. Working with a student across multiple years allows tutors to build a detailed understanding of their strengths and gaps, and to adjust their methods in ways that lead to more meaningful, lasting improvement.
Debashis offered a message she and her co-founder return to repeatedly in conversations with prospective families: “Don’t leave it too late. We speak with parents every year who feel they should have made the move sooner. Building strong subject knowledge and real academic confidence is a gradual process, and the students who tend to achieve the most are those whose support begins long before Year 11.”
The new platform was developed with the realities of busy family life in mind. Students juggling school, hobbies and other commitments will be able to dip into lessons and resources when it suits them, rather than being tied to fixed session times.
The self-paced format preserves the structure and rigour of the company’s existing tuition approach while making it accessible to a wider range of learners, including those who may benefit from revisiting material multiple times or working through topics more slowly.
The parent progress tracking system running alongside the platform offers a new level of transparency, providing families with regular, meaningful updates on where their child stands and how they are progressing against their goals.
A-Star Tuitions says the tool reflects a broader philosophy of keeping families informed and involved, treating parents as partners in the learning process rather than passive observers.
The company’s growing presence in awards programmes and its partnership with the National Tutoring Awards signal a commitment to shaping and improving standards not just within A-Star Tuitions, but across the wider tutoring sector.
With the September launch approaching, Debashis and Arunima say their ambitions remain grounded in the same purpose that started the company: helping every student they work with unlock their potential and approach their education with genuine belief in their own ability.
