Much like myself, sunflowers really start to thrive in the summer. Especially during the month of August. And guess what, folks? In what feels like the blink of an eye, the greatest month of the year (in my humble opinion) is mere moments away from rearing its head. And we all know what that means. Get in, Londoners – we’re going sunflower picking. Where, I hear you ask? The Patch MK, of course.

The Patch MK

Less than two hours outside of the capital city, you’ll find The Patch MK – one of the largest pick-your-own flower farms in the UK. Boasting a sea of sunflowers (plus a wonderful wildflower field and a whole host of other activities to get stuck into); this picture-perfect paradise makes for a blooming brilliant day outoffering visitors the chance to frolic in the flowers, fill their lungs with some actual fresh air for the first time in far too long, and have some well-needed fun in the sun(flower fields).

Visitors to The Patch MK can expect to find over 500,000 sunflowers scattered around in all their gorgeous, golden glory. Over 30 different varieties of sunflower have been planted, meaning that the bright, beautiful blooms range in shape, size, height, and colour. And the sunflowers have been planted in stages, ensuring that there’s a continuous bloom throughout the summer.

Things to do at The Patch MK

The Patch MK is a one stop shop for your summer shenanigans, really. Visitors can wander through rows upon rows of sprawling sunflowerspicking their own to take home with them as they go. Offering an utterly breathtaking backdrop, the sunflower field is also a gorgeous spot to capture some summery snaps. There are plenty of photo opportunities perched throughout the fields, too; from a giant heart and a vintage tractor to a floral archway and a rustic swing.

If wildflowers are more up your street, though – you happen to be in luck. Because The Patch MK happens to boast a whopping 30 million of those, too. Throughout the summer, there are all sorts of activities to enjoy. There’s mazes, adventure trails, woodland walks, a whole host of games to play, and lots of food and drink options to keep you as well fed and watered as the flowers themselves.

Getting to The Patch MK from London

The Patch MK is approximately a 90 minute drive from Londonand there is free parking available on site. Non-drivers can hop on a 30 minute train from London Euston to Milton Keynes Central. The Patch MK is then a short taxi ride from there.

The Patch MK is open Tuesdays-Sundays from 10am-5pm until August 30, and bookings must be made in advance. Find out more and plan your visit here.
