From the moment we arrived, there was a quiet charm to the place – a sense of understated luxury blended with personality and story.

Holmes is spread across four beautifully restored Georgian townhouses, and you can feel the heritage in every corner.

(Image: Immy Share, Newsquest) The design was a standout – eclectic but elegant, filled with vintage curiosities and warm, intelligent details that quietly nod to the hotel’s namesake, Sherlock Holmes.

It’s the kind of place that invites you to slow down, and our townhouse room was thoughtfully styled.

The muted tones gave it the warmth of a private residence with the perks of a boutique hotel.

(Image: Immy Share, Newsquest) It felt more like borrowing someone’s beautiful London apartment than staying in a hotel – especially in a city that often feels too fast-paced.

One of the highlights of our stay was dinner at Kitchen at Holmes, the hotel’s in-house restaurant.

The atmosphere was relaxed but lively, with an open kitchen that added just the right amount of theatre to the evening.

We sat outside and enjoyed the evening buzz of Baker Street, feeling like we were on holiday in our own city.

I ordered the roasted salmon and avocado salad, which was beautifully fresh and well-balanced, while my boyfriend went for the pork — rich, tender, and full of flavour.

The hotel’s location couldn’t be better — a short walk from Regent’s Park and Oxford Street, but somehow still peaceful and tucked away.

It was the perfect base for exploring, but also for retreating after a busy day.

What really set Holmes apart, though, was the sense of care throughout our stay.

The staff were warm, personable, and made us feel genuinely welcome –  the kind of service that makes you want to return before you’ve even checked out.

All in all, Holmes Hotel felt like a slice of serenity in the heart of the city – full of character, comfort, and a quiet kind of magic.
