The LEGO play pavilion in Kensington Gardens

In a bid to bring some colour and creativity to the heart of the capital city; a bold, bright, and brilliantly playful new space has just arrived in Kensington Gardenscourtesy of the LEGO Group, Serpentine, and renowned architect, Sir Peter Cook.

The LEGO Play Pavilion

The LEGO Play Pavilion is a smile-inducing structure, made entirely of LEGO bricks. It’s been designed as a ‘playground for all ages’ – and it will remain in London for the summer, holding a hefty number of free workshops and activities for all to enjoy.

The construction of the Play Pavilion comes following recent research from LEGO. Research revealed that 1 in 3 children feel overlooked by urban designed, and 7 in 10 parents feel as though their city doesn’t offer adequately safe and accessible play spaces. The strikingly surreal structure is set to turn that on its head, providing an inclusive space for London’s young people.

Acclaimed architect, Sir Peter Cookhas designed the pavilion to champion the voices of London’s youth. Set to encourage imagination, creativity, and collaboration; the fun-filled community destination will help Londoners rediscover the power of play through a series of workshops running throughout the summer.

Workshops are completely free to attend but do need to be booked in advance. And the fully-stacked programme features everything from music-making and art classes to nature walks and fashion workshops.

Peter Cookarchitect, said: “I’ve always believed architecture should surprise you, especially if you’re young. The Play Pavilion does just that, not in a grand way, but in the small detail and moments of discovery as you navigate the space. Inspired by young people there is a space to hide, climb, perform or simply let your imagination run wild. It really is about unlocking infinite possibilities through play.”

You’ll find the LEGO Play Pavilion in Kensington Gardens until August 10. Find out more and book onto a free session here.
