Asda accelerates its expansion to the comfort sector and plans to open 25 new C stores nationwide by the end of the year.
The supermarket giant announced that the new C stores open from June to December, with its strategy to reach more consumers in city centers.
The new stores include former Co-OP locations after Aspda has acquired 478 comfort sites from the Co-OP and EG group in the last two years.
Last year, the new extension station follows the slowdown of the grocery store opening holes. In 2024, only 12 new stores were launched, which was missing the original target of 30 and well below 2023 81 stores.
In recent years, the supermarket chain has been challenged by its market share, which has fallen from 14.8 % to 10.4 % last month in 2021.
According to Kantar figures, 12 weeks on March 23, the German discount balance passed asda for the first time, with a market share of 10.6%, compared to ASDA to 10.4%.
