Lily Wallen crushes the Nordic hamburger joint
Doug’s hamburgers have arrived in Manchester on the same wave brush that has brought several crushing hamburger companies that wash through the center – but this is from Norway.
Oil, herring and £ 10 inches come to mind before crushing hamburgers as you think about the Nordic export. One hamburger at a time, Doug’s Bucks is a trend on what something can be paid for from that icebreakers.
Doug’s recently joins its doors on Circle Square, which is Manchester’s most important property from Oxford Road, and is related to the cultivation of the ecosystem for students such as Amber and Detroit’s slim, where it is undoubtedly not being priced.
And if there is something that students can enjoy more than an affordable, fleshy meal, it must be a strong alcoholic beverage. And you are not much stronger than Martini. If ever there were perfect alchemy students’ satisfaction, Dougin could have just found it.
There is nothing much in the Nordic countries about all-American entries to dining style. Add a reggae playlist and you have an international facility. Hamburgers without borders.
There is a relaxed atmosphere, but also crucially fast and effective dynamism that you can expect from all good hamburger community. Choose, space and eat on Mo. And when it is a five -minute walk to the Academy and the University Lecture Hall, there is an efficiency at a Ford factory where students can quickly jump on the conveyor belt for happiness.
The interior is five friends, but fortunately the menu is largely free selected tyranny; The ‘Build-a-burger’ style is not really available, but you have three types of beef hamburgers, chicken selection and vegetarian alternative.
After staring at the above menu, all 30 seconds descended from my choice. Classic (£ 6) – Oklahoma -style single dry -age beef blend served with steamed buns, salty cucumber, secret sauce, ketchup, mustard and cheese – but make it a ‘happier meal’ (+9.95 pounds of potatoes and potatoes and Martini , beer or wine) and give me a flavored potato with Martin to wash it.
Although this time I chose an alcoholic beverage – how you could transfer the opportunity to enjoy the choice of cocktail from the Patsy Stone application with Homer Simpson’s food – I was happy about it. I am a great believer that not all forms of Coca-Cola are made of equal and the better of them are mixed in the fountain, stamped on a paper cup and straw, and enjoy a salty meal to balance it.
In a real Smash Burger format, the classic came wrapped in silver felt, which revealed a shiny and rich orange brioche bun, a salty fire mark for sweet balancing the salty. After all, a good burger is in balance. The leakage of the pages was to combine American cheese and ground beef patty onion, which was printed on it -in the true Oklahoma style.
Almost soft enough not to chew, true Smash burger friends know that unmistles of inseparable components set these foil-packed specialties of their thicker age.
The inseparable except for mustard and secretly sauce, which of course improved every bite with a zesty kick and raised the classic to that rich pampering level you combine with crushing. I suppose it is not really important what the secret to Doug’s sauce is as long as it does its job – and it does.
So how do you improve crisp, well -flavored French potatoes? Add rosemary salt, fragrant and vaguely earthly addition to what is already a classic.
The Manchester horizon may have much more Smash Burger, and they would probably still have an enthusiastic audience. But in the meantime, Doug’s has chosen its moments well, and its location even more.
