Tom Holland has expressed his excitement at joining Christopher Nolan’s latest film venture, following confirmation that he will star in the acclaimed director’s next post-Oppenheimer film.
The actor, known for his role as Spider-Man, shared his excitement on Good Morning America, saying: “When the opportunity came up, it was the phone call of a lifetime.”
He likened the moment to getting the news about Spider-Man a decade earlier: “(It was reminiscent of) getting that call about Spider-Man 10 years ago. It’s an amazing thing for me. I’m super proud and I’m really , really excited.”
Despite his eagerness, Tom kept details of the new project close to his chest, adding: “All I can say is I’m incredibly excited and obviously honoured, but that’s all I can say to be honest, that’s really all I know.”
The upcoming film, which remains untitled, is set for release on July 17, 2026. This announcement comes on the heels of Nolan’s Oppenheimer, which was a box office hit last year, grossing an impressive $977 million against its $100 million budget.
In what promises to be a busy period for the actor, Holland’s schedule will be packed in July 2026, as Spider-Man 4 is set to open just one week after his collaboration with Nolan, on July 24.
However, since both films are big productions, there is always the possibility of changes to their scheduled release dates, Express reports.
Holland is set to return to action as Peter Parker/Spider-Man for the fourth time, with Zendaya returning as his on-screen and real-life love interest MJ.
In a chat on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, he spilled the beans about the start of production. “Next summer we start shooting. Everything is good to go – we’re almost there. Super exciting. I can’t wait!” he shared excitedly.
After donning the Spider-Man costume in three standalone films, Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019) and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), as well as making appearances in Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, Holland has become synonymous with the web-slinging hero.
While Jon Watts directed the previous trio of Spider-Man films, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton will take the reins in the upcoming installment.
Christopher Nolan’s as-yet-untitled film will be released on July 17, 2026, while Spider-Man 4 will be released on July 24.
