Based in the heart of Manchester and Salford’s Media City, Futureworks is one of the UK’s leading specialist higher education providers for people seeking a career in the creative industries, and it’s opening its doors in October for an exciting open day.
Futureworks offers nine specialised BA and BSc Honours degrees across three schools: Art & Design, Music & Sound Production, and Film, TV & Media.
Also, they’ll be offering Degree Apprenticeships from September 2025.
Whether you’re soon to complete your A-Levels or a college diploma course, want to transform a creative passion into a rewarding career, or seek to alter your career path and work in one of the UK’s fastest-growing industries, the Futureworks open day is for you.
Specialised equipment and expert tutors
Futureworks’ Riverside Campus has five floors packed with specialised equipment, music production studios, VFX suites, and art and design studios.
Over in Media City is Futureworks Studio, an industry-standard production environment housing an infinity green screen, motion capture facilities, film equipment and studio space for building detailed film and TV sets.
Students are taught by experienced industry professionals, and Futureworks prides itself on having collaborative connections with the many creative industries it serves.
Its own Industry Advisory Group ensures that students build strong connections with employers via guest lectures, industry masterclasses, and real-world opportunities, ensuring they’re industry-ready and highly employable when they graduate.
This vocational-first approach to education ensures that Futureworks graduates are highly sought after in the creative industries.
They go on to work for many leading employers, such as the BBC and ITV, Sony, Warner Brothers, EA Games, Rockstar, and many, many more.
Exciting, inspirational, and rewarding
Futureworks open days are exciting, inspirational, and rewarding.
Lecturers, current students, and alumni will warmly welcome you. They’ll take you on tours of both locations, inviting you to try out the equipment, share their experiences, and answer any questions you may have.
You’ll discover what makes Futureworks’ creative community unique and watch live demonstrations from talented students showcasing their skills.
At the Riverside Campus, you’ll have the opportunity to get behind the controls of a professional music production desk, try out graphics tablets, learn traditional animation skills, and more.
If you’re seeking to release your own music, Futureworks also has its own in-house label, 1043 Recordings, which has been releasing student and alumni recordings since 2011.
Over at Media City Studios, you’ll have the chance to try out as a camera operator or sound technician, get hands-on with a clapper board, and get in front of the camera on the green screen.
