As the UK braces for a cold winter and rising household bills, B&M customers have been rushing to stores to snap up winter warming items. There are plenty of options that will have shoppers covered from head to toe.
The energy regulator Ofgem has implemented its new energy price cap for October to December from today (October 1), announcing an average increase of £149 in household energy bills from October. This will be a blow to households already struggling financially.
The cap, which restricts the amount energy suppliers can charge per unit of energy and standing charge, is set to be reviewed again before the New Year, with changes taking effect from January 1, 2025. The price cap is adjusted every three months and is based on the typical energy usage of households that use both gas and electricity
As a result of current high bills, nearly half of British adults (46%) are likely to limit their energy use this winter, according to a survey by fuel poverty charity National Energy Action (NEA) and YouGov. People are prepared to use less energy than necessary for comfort and wellbeing in a bid to keep their heads above water financially.
To avoid the cost of central heating, people are seeking alternative ways to stay warm during the predicted winter freeze later this month. B&M is stocking plenty of new items that promise to keep you ‘warm and cosy’ without needing the heating on, reports the Express.
B&M has shared with its loyal shoppers a new range of personal heating devices now in stores, as seen in a recent Instagram post. The selection promises to direct warmth and comfort across various body parts including feet, hands, neck, and back.
A B&M spokesperson wrote: “Everything I’ve ever needed and more! Cosy season, we’re ready for you!”
The social media update displayed a range of wonderful warming items with prices ranging from £12 to £20. Some customers endorsed their purchases while others were keenly planning visits to B&M.
The top pick among the products is the Restore Massaging Foot Warmer priced at £20, receiving rave reviews. One said: “This will be amazing when it’s even colder outside!”
Another noticed: “It warms and massages?! Take my money!” While another person getting their friends involved said: “Let’s go on a B&M hunt! These will be perfect for our cold toes!”
For £20, customers can also bag themselves Heated Slippers by Naeo. B&M’s collection doesn’t stop there – it includes a £12 Neck Wrap and Eye Mask alongside a Snuggable £12 Soothing Heated Cushion.
Some are already planning to make use of the items outside of their home. One shopper wrote: “Calling all football mums!”
Others fantasised about staying comfy during the workday, with one admitting: “Not gonna to lie, I’d deffo wear most of these to work as I’m always cold!” and another coining them “office essentials”.
Customers can locate their nearest B&M store using the online locator tool on the company’s website. However, as B&M does not provide an online stock checking service, customers may need to visit their local store or phone ahead to check product availability, potentially saving a lengthy journey.
