Jon from England and single mother Rachel from Albuquerque, New Mexico met on the karaoke app Smule. They were in a relationship when Rachel found out she was pregnant with her ex-boyfriend’s child. Rachel traveled to the UK to meet Jon in person with her young daughter. Jon and Rachel continued their relationship and married on his second trip. From then on, Joni’s move to the United States was an uphill battle

Jon Walters made a painful announcement on Facebook on May 7, 2024.
Jon wrote that he would not be joining Rachel and the girls in the US. “The future we wanted for so long is not the future we have,” Jon added. He admitted how they knew the journey would be difficult long before they started. However, they had hope that kept them going when things got tough. “I am a husband and a father by invitation, and I have never taken (them) for granted,” Jon wrote before adding that they weren’t a perfect couple and he was far from the perfect husband and father he wanted to be.

Why Jon and Rachel gave up on their relationship
Jon said that a long distance relationship like theirs would never work, but they fought it well. Jon asked his fans for time and space to accept the situation and figure out what would happen next. Jon thanked his fans for all their support and being with them every step of the way. Jon and Rachel made their series debut in 2018. Their visa journey was long and had just ended. They knew that getting a visa would be a challenge.
Joni had a criminal record.
He had gotten into 50-60 fights when he was young, but he was judged in college and hurt someone. The the victim suffered an eye injury when Joni hit them. Jon had pleaded guilty. He didn’t have to go to jail for his actions. However, Joni’s past still haunts him. Rachel coming to the UK was not an option either. He shares custody of his eldest daughter Ella with his ex. Jon and Rachel saw a ray of hope when he was granted a visa interview in 2021 but was denied.
The couple applied for a visa waiver for Jon’s spouse and waited a few more months, but encountered more roadblocks along the way. Finally, Jon and Rachel’s fight to reunite and live as a family in the United States is over. Rachel and Jon couldn’t they deserved a happy ending even after seven long years of waiting.
