Survivor The 46ers are down to their final five players, and this season has made history as many players have returned home with unused immunity idols in their pockets. The show used to travel around the world, but this season Survivor returned to its permanent location on Mamanuca Island in Fiji. At the start of the game, 18 contestants were dropped on a deserted island to outsmart, outwit and outlast each other. They have braved starvation, sleeplessness and each other to win a million dollars and the title of Sole Survivor.
Cast Survivor season 46 has made history by flushing more idols during tribal council than any previous season. Jemila “Jem” Hussain-Adams
Episode 5 eliminated
First Survivor The 46 player who failed to play her immunity idol and was sent home was Jemila “Jem” Hussain Adams, a 32-year-old international brand mentor from Guyana who now lives in Chicago. Jem hadn’t had an immunity idol for a long time before he was faced with the opportunity to use it. When the time came, Jem was sure he wasn’t on the chopping block Survivor 46 at the tribal council in episode 5, so he kept his immunity idol in his pocket. Hunter McKnight
Episode 9 eliminated
Hunter McKnight was The game’s biggest physical threat, it’s no surprise he found himself a target from the rest of his tribe. Surprisingly, the 28-year-old science teacher from French Camp, Mississippi, didn’t know she needed to use her immunity idol Survivor 46, Section 9 Tribal Council. Especially considering that right before Tribal Council, he told the other contestants that he had an idol and was going to use it that night.
It’s possible that Hunter actually intended to use his idol, but changed his mind after finding out about the rest of the tribe. Or he bluffed to make his fellow players think twice before voting for him, and they called his bluff. Regardless of his intention, Hunter didn’t perform his idol, and after a tie, he was eliminated.
Tiffany Nicole Ervin
Episode 10 eliminated
Although 33-year-old New Jersey artist Tiffany Nicole Ervin had been teaming up with Kenzie Petty all season, Kenzie decided to blindside her. In the early period Survivor 46, episode 10, Kenzie went to Charlie and Maria’s place to carry out the plan. The three knew that Tiffany had an immunity idol, and although they all wanted Q Burdette out of the game, they decided that Tiffany was the bigger threat.
Kenzie’s tune changed later in the episode. After the reward challenge Maria and Charlie found time to discuss what they thought was the best option for the vote it was supposed to happen later that evening. They talked about the possibility of voting for Q, but both decided that Tiffany was the better choice. Even though it was Kenzie’s idea to track down Tiffany, she suddenly wasn’t so sure anymore. He told Charlie and Maria that he thought it might not be the best time to go with another blindside, but Charlie and Maria disagreed.
Tiffany, on the other hand, was confident that she was safe, so she decided not to use her immunity idol and ended up on the jury.
Venus Vafa
Episode 11 eliminated
After the previous blind vote Tribal Council excluded 24-year-old Canadian data analyst Venus Vafa from disqualifying Tiffany, he felt a little uneasy about his position in the tribe. He focused his energy on finding the Immunity Idol, which he knew was hidden again after Tiffany’s elimination. Venus’ determination paid off. He found the idol and hid it from the tribe. Everyone but Maria openly wanted Q to go. Venus was sure Q would be voted out that night, so she didn’t perform her immunity idol and was blindsided Survivor 46, season 11.
Q Burdette
Episode 12 eliminated
While some of the players were away enjoying the awards dinner, Q Burdette, a 29-year-old real estate agent from Memphis, Tennessee, was desperately searching for an idol.
Standing out as one of the most entertaining, interesting and confusing contestants in the game, Q had been a staple at several tribal councils.
Knowing his neck was on the line, Q managed to find the idol and showed it to his closest ally, Maria. When Maria won the immunity challenge later in the season Survivor 46, episode 12, their partnership was guaranteed a place in the final five.
When close allies Charlie and Maria considered blinding each other, Q became arrogant. Like the previous four players who didn’t play their immunity idol, he felt safe. Mary confirmed his confidence, told him he was sure he would be in the game tomorrow. In the end, it turned out that both Q and Maria misjudged the situation. When Jeff asked if anyone wanted to play an idol, Q remained silent.

The game will never be the same
Five players with an idol in their pocket will eliminate the game going forward. Prospective players are so afraid of falling with idols in their pockets that they are much more likely to play to their advantage soon after acquiring it. Although Survivor the players of season 46 made the mistake of holding on to their idols for too long, there’s also the risk that they won’t hold on to them long enough.
