Over 15,000 young Londoners will gain invaluable insights into careers, apprenticeships, and work experience this week as the London Careers Festival returns.
Featuring participation from global powerhouses like KPMG, Janus Henderson Investors, Legal & General, Slaughter & May, and Transport for London, the event aims to connect young talent with opportunities that can shape their futures.
Organised by the Corporation, this free annual festival targets primary and secondary school students, inspiring them to envision and achieve successful careers.
Each year the festival increases its support of young people with special educational needs, disabilities, and who are neurodiverse, by offering tailored workshops that ensure all participants can feel positive about their future prospects.
Chair of the Corporation’s Education Board, Naresh Sonpar said:
“The London Careers Festival is a cornerstone of our commitment to empowering the next generation.
“In 2025, as industries continue to evolve at a rapid pace, it’s more important than ever to provide young people with the skills, guidance, and opportunities they need to thrive in a dynamic world of work.
“This festival not only connects students with leading employers but also inspires them to dream big and realise their potential. Together, we’re shaping a resilient, diverse, and skilled workforce for London’s future.”
This year the London Careers Festival is additionally partnering with Action For Kids (AFK) Charitable Trust to expand its provision for those with additional needs that explore the many available job roles.
Rachel Akehurst, Executive Director of Services at Action For Kids Charitable Trust said:
“London is full of opportunities but finding them can be tricky if you’re a young person with additional needs, such as a disability or neurodivergence.
“AFK is excited to be partnering with Corporation to support young people with additional needs attending the London Careers Festival.
“The London Careers Festival is the perfect opportunity for young Londoners to find out about lots of different options and pathways that they may not have considered for their futures.”
The event comes as UK figures reveal 628,000 young people aged 16 to 24 were without a job in September to November 2024, and the national unemployment rate for the same group stood at 14.5%. Figures show there are 98,000 more young people unemployed this year compared to the same quarter last year.
The London Careers Festival is just one example of the City Corporation’s broader commitment to boosting career opportunities. From sponsoring high-performing academies to supporting apprenticeship programs and funding charitable initiatives, the City Corporation continues to champion social mobility and economic inclusivity.
