You’ll always hear people harking back to the glory years, citing a time when a pint would only set you back (insert ludicrously low figure here)but you’d have to go back some way to hear of one that cost as little as 17p.
Except this weekend at Market Place Vauxhallyou’ll be able to nab a pint of Asahi for that very price (as long as you’re quick!). We’d be crazy to turn down a jar of nectar at that price, but why is it happening?
Well, Market Place has determined that they should be recognising a day called ‘Quitters Day’ by only taking 17p for the first 100 people who come to claim their drink on Friday, January 17. Quitters Day is apparently the most common time for people to sack off their New Year’s resolutions, which can be anything from Dry January to building more LEGO.
If you’re aching over not building that last model yesterday, then feel free to drown your sorrows with a pint for 17p between 12-2pm this Friday. Confess your lack of commitment to the building block overlords, and walk away with your nice cold Asahi, which will soon cost a lot more.
Once you’ve enjoyed your cheap pint, you can stick around at Market Halls to take advantage of their street food selections, or enjoy another pint or two to while away the Friday afternoon. And don’t forget that if you’re there holding your 17p pint, you should be wishing everyone around you doing the same thing some happy (perhaps with a tinge of regret) returns.
You can find pints for 17p between 12-2pm this Friday, January 17 at Market Place Vauxhall, 7 South Lambeth Place, SW8 1SP (nearest station is Vauxhall). Find out more about the Market Place venues here.
