MEREDITH Scudder is married to Scottie Scheffler, who won his first green jacket in 2022 at Augusta National.
Here we learn more about the woman behind golf’s world number one.
Who is Meredith Sucdder?
Born in Texas, America, Meredith Scudder was raised by mother Michelle Scudder and father Mark Scudder.
She grew up with two siblings — her brother Andrew and sister Stephanie.
Scottie Scheffler’s parents Scott and Diane moved the family to Dallas when the golfing prodigy was just seven.
In 2014 Scudder graduated from Highland Park High School, where she met long-term lover Scheffler, before attending Texas A&M University as a communication major and a business major.
The young sportsman had already discovered his talent by this time, explaining to Golf Digest: “In high school, I narrowed it down to just basketball and golf.
“My whole life, I knew how much I loved golf. It was the one sport I always wanted to be playing, regardless of the season.”
Meredith took an instant liking to Scottie, explaining: “At the beginning of high school I always thought he had a super humble ambiance about him, that he was just a really down-to-earth guy that doesn’t take himself too seriously.
“Even when he had amazing accomplishments, that wasn’t the most important thing about him.”
However, Scheffler studied at the University of Texas — A&M University’s rivals, but that didn’t stop the pair from regularly visiting each other or deter Meredith from securing her Bachelor’s degree in 2018.
Scheffler’s wife is the co-founder, vice president and an event planner for With Purpose College Station — a company which supports the lives of those affected by Childhood cancer.
And alongside that, the American is also ambassador of nutrition organisation Juice Plus.
What is Meredith Scudder’s history with Scottie Scheffler?
Following a brief two-year post-university internship in Zambia, Scheffler popped the question.
Meredith and Scottie tied the knot in a Winter Wonderland-themed wedding, with the golf superstar proposing during a hike in the Arbor Hills Nature Preserve.
Scudder wrote on her Instagram: “YES! I can’t believe God gave me my best friend to spend the rest of my life with, can’t wait to be your wife, Scottie!!!!
“Blown away at the Lord’s faithfulness and goodness to us. [LET’S] DO THIS!!”
The couple officially tied the knot on December 11, 2020 at Arlington Hall in Dallas, after dating for six years.
Has there been any controversy in Scudder and Scheffler’s relationship?
Thankfully for the couple, there hasn’t been any major controversy known to social media.
However, when Scheffler was preparing for the Sentry Tournament of Champions in 2022, the American golfer cracked his most cherished Nike VR Pro Limited Edition model, which he had been using since 2011.
But Scudder came to his rescue by bringing TEN potential 3-woods to the Royal Oaks Country Club, leading him to top the Korn Ferry Tour points list in 2019 and earn PGA Tour Rookie of the Year.
The two have kept their romance pretty low-key on the whole, with Scheffler hardly ever sharing any pics with his wife online — and her accounts set to private.
However, she is often spotted at his matches supporting him.
After the 2023 Ryder Cup, an emotional Scheffler was spotted being consoled by Meredith.
She could be seen rubbing his back and speaking to him as he wiped tears from his eyes following the US’ heavy defeat.
