Before BABYMONSTER introduced its current lineup, Vicky Wei and Jane Wang were the first known members of the group. What happened to them after they didn’t make the team?
Only 7 of BABYMONSTER’s 10 pre-debut members were present
In 2020, the two preliminary members became familiar faces to K-pop fans after joining the Chinese show ‘Youth With You’, a spin-off of the Korean audition survival show ‘Produce 101’.
At the time, they introduced themselves as “BABYMONSTERS” then trainees for YG Entertainment China (Yaoxing Culture).
Before their appearance on the show, there was a rumor that the company would launch a new girl group with the same name – the two trainees attracted attention by indirectly confirming it.
Over the years, more details have been revealed about BABYMONSTER ahead of their debut.
In 2021, YG Food CEO Noh Hee Young revealed that the girl group would have 10 members, as she stated, “There are about 10 Jennies in BABYMONSTER. ยป
However, in November 2023, only 7 members could debut and unfortunately neither Vicky nor Jane could join the girl group’s final lineup.
What happened to Vicky Wei? Idol debuted in the girl group Univu5
After joining ‘Youth With You’, where she was eliminated in the 16th episode, Vicky Wei returned to her company.
She was expected to return to training and debut as BABYMONSTER, but she shocked K-pop fans when she left YG and announced her debut as a Chinese idol under his new label, Rock Forward Entertainment.

The group adheres to a worldview concept that states how the group will “break through the chaos of the virtual world and recreate a new universe through self-exploration and connection with one another.”
They have also achieved a decent following and success, mainly in China, but the group is quite unknown among global fans due to restrictions on their content on mainstream platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, TikTok and Twitter.

Meanwhile, Jane Wang also left YG China after failing to win in “Youth With You”. In addition to that, she was also not allowed to debut as BABYMONSTER.
After that, she communicated with her global fans on Instagram until 2022.
After stopping using the social media platform, she had no significant next steps related to the music scene.
Aside from her Weibo where she often posts her photos and offers, Jane Wang is more of an influencer these days.
