Love Is Blind is back baby! The seventh season dropped on Netflix this week (2nd October) and in the six episodes we’ve seen so far there’s been multiple engagements, tough conversations and an ick-inducing ride on a duck (just to clarify we mean plastic not the real quacking variety).
The series spent over five episodes in the pods, introducing us to the group of singles who were hoping to find their forever partner by going on a series of dates through the pod walls, where they don’t see each other until after their engagement. And in this series seven couples got engaged. However, we only end up seeing six couples on the trip to Mexico and beyond.
So what happened with Leo and Brittany on Love Is Blind? And crucially, what happened after they stopped filming? Here’s your 101 on all things Leo and Brittany.
What was Leo and Brittany’s Love Is Blind journey?
31-year-old art dealer Leo (is he an art dealer? He never mentions it) and 33-year-old aesthetician Brittany got on super well at first while dating in the pods.
They had some tough conversations about money, where Brittany asked Leo how he felt about splitting things exactly 50/50 and he said he was open to paying more of his share, which Brittany was very happy about. Leo also revealed he had come into a lot of money following the death of his parents and grandparents, and therefore did sometimes question if women were only interested in him for his bank balance and not who he is on the inside.
They seemed to grow from this conversation, however, things got a bit more complicated as Leo was also getting to know Hannah and developing strong feelings for her. And Hannah was torn between Leo and Nick. Talk about a love square?
Hannah initially called things off with Nick as she thought he wasn’t mature enough, but then changed her mind and fully pursued Nick. This left Leo with only Brittany to pursue, which made her feel like his second choice.
Leo managed to convince her this wasn’t the case and ended up proposing. The two were one of the last couples to meet in real life, and when they saw each other Leo was overjoyed to see Brittany, calling her the “hottest girl in the world”. Brittany however, wasn’t as overtly thrilled and seemed very overwhelmed by the whole process.
After the pair are seen sharing one last hug, a screen popped up saying, “Brittany and Leo were not one of the six couples chosen by producers to continue their journey in Mexico. They took their own trip to Miami and broke off their engagement weeks later.”
Why didn’t Leo and Brittany go on the group trip to Mexico?
On every season of Love Is Blind we hear stories there were more couples who got engaged that weren’t shown on the series, and now thanks to Leo and Brittany we have a better understanding as to why.
Series creator Chris Coelen told Variety each season they have the budget to follow five couples’ journeys outside of the pods, and sometimes can make six work. They make their decision on who to follow, based on how likely they think they are to make it down the aisle.
“We have the budget to follow five couples and sometimes we stretch to six couples, and we figure out how to stack our crews,” he explained.
“When we make that decision as to who to follow, if we have more couples that got engaged, we make a decision as to which couples we think are authentic. And when I say authentic, I mean most authentically likely to actually be at the altar and say I do. Who is really genuinely on that path? We felt, at the time, that the six couples we did end up following were the ones that felt more, on a gut level, had a real shot to say ‘I do’ — that they were really invested in saying ‘I do.’ The couple that I think we felt least likely to do that were Leo and Brittany,” he added.
Coelen also revealed because Hannah and Nick’s story was so entwined with Leo and Brittany’s story, they couldn’t not share what happened with Leo and Brittany too in the final edit.
What happened with Leo and Brittany after Love Is Blind?
As revealed in episode five of Love Is Blind, Leo and Brittany ended their engagement a few weeks after they stopped filming.
In an interview with Tudum, the pair revealed during their trip to Miami it became clear they had more of a friendship connection than a romantic one.
“The first couple of days were electric,” Leo told the publication. While Brittany added: “We would still have these long, deep talks about spirituality. But ultimately [he] was just like a friend. We’d go to bed together, and I’m like, ‘Nothing here.’ ” Eek.
They then decided to call the relationship quits but revealed they are still good friends.
