Westfield in Shepherd’s Bush has launched its first ever winter lights event Here We Glow, which featurers eight illuminated installations by internationally renowned artists.

The free trail runs until March 2 and is designed to lift the spirits over the dark winter months.

Highlights include the Anooki on the Southern Terrace – two larger-than-life Inuit-inspired characters by French artists David Passegand and Moetu Batlle.

The figures have already lit up iconic locations such as the Fête des Lumières in Lyon and Dubai’s Burj Khalifa and, through lively musical performances that are both fun and poetic, symbolise the delicate balance of our planet’s ecosystems.

British artist Liz West debuts her new commission Visible Light at the Village Entrance to the shopping centre.

Suspended in the grand oval aperture, the three-dimensional colour wheel draws inspiration from Westfield’s triangular roof structure by transforming triangular prisms into a cascading spectrum.

The sensory installation exemplifies West’s deep exploration of the emotional and psychological connections to colour.

In Westfield Square, shoppers can find Evanescent, an eight metre-high bubble artwork by Atelier Sisu, which invites visitors to walk underneath and among the multi-coloured spheres.

By day, the bubbles glisten in the sunlight, while at night, internal lights bring them to life in vibrant colours, accompanied by an ethereal soundscape.

Alongside it is Shifting Visions by Adam Povey Lighting LTD which fuses mirrors and lighting to reflect both the surrounding environment and light itself back at passers by.

And located on The Southern Terrace is Tessellis by Angelo Bonello which features 18 large, glowing geometric shapes arranged in a regular pattern, that alternately switch on and off spelling out ancient symbols of a mysterious code.

The dynamic composition takes visitors on a journey from ancient cities to a futuristic metropolis, where animals reclaim the world.

Laura Waters, General Manager, at Westfield London said: “We are excited to launch Here We Glow at Westfield London this winter.

“This extraordinary celebration of light and art provides a unique opportunity to engage with our community and make art accessible to all.

“With standout installations like the Anooki, making their London debut, and an exclusive new commission from British artist Liz West, we are excited to showcase creativity and innovation that will brighten the winter season and offer an unforgettable experience for visitors of all ages.”

Here We Glow runs at various locations around Westfield Shepherd’s Bush until March 2.
