It’s hard to believe it, but it’s been almost 30 years since that moment in Trainspotting (read: toilet and Renton) hit the screens with Born Slippy (Nuxx) playing over the scene. Underworld’s iconic song was relatively unknown until Danny Boyle, who directed Trainspottingselected it for the picture, but it has since received icon status as one of the defining British electronic music tracks.
Karl Hyde and Rick Smith, who make up the duo of Underworldare celebrating the track and more on their ‘(nuxx) thirty’ shows next year, with a trio of giant gigs planned for London in early 2026. They’ll play at Brixton Academy for three nights on the trot, with dates pencilled in for February 5, 6, & 7. Though Born Slippy (Nuxx) was technically released in 1995, the 30-year celebration coincides with the milestone anniversary of Trainspotting.

Underworld’s last headline show in London came in 2024, when they played two sets in a night at Alexandra Palace, ending the final set with Born Slippy (Nuxx). In the summer of this year, they also played a set at London’s Boiler Room festival in Burgess Park, which also featured hits including Cowgirl and Two Months Off.
