Suman Ziaullah

Suman Ziaullah is a senior financial services regulator who, since 2020, has led the Financial Conduct Authority’s work to ensure the UK financial sector is resilient to operational disruption and cyber attack. He has extensive experience across public sector organisations, including the Foreign & Commonwealth Office and HM Treasury, as well as previous board experience. Suman has served on the UK Anti-Doping Board since 2021 and chairs its People Committee.

After graduating from the University of Cambridge with a Master’s degree in Engineering, Suman joined the Foreign & Commonwealth Office in 1999, serving for 15 years as a British diplomat. He is a recognised expert in operational and cyber resilience and geopolitics, and has built and led data capabilities that have defended the UK from major national security threats, identified serious financial misconduct, and supported the security of the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Mark Foster

Starting a second term as NED on the UKAD Board, Mark has extensive experience from over 25 years of working in elite sport in a variety of commercial roles in Rugby League, Cricket, Rugby Union and currently as Chief Commercial Officer for England Netball, providing National Governing Body experience to the Board too.

Suman Ziaullah and Mark Foster have been reappointed for a four-year term, from 15 July 2025 to 14 July 2029.

Remuneration and Governance Code

UK Anti-Doping Directors receive £215 a day and are expected to attend 6 board meetings a year. These reappointments have been made in accordance with the Cabinet Office’s Governance Code on Public Appointments. The appointments process is regulated by the Commissioner for Public Appointments. Under the Code, any significant political activity undertaken by an appointee in the last five years must be declared. This is defined as including holding office, public speaking, making a recordable donation, or candidature for election.

Suman Ziaullah and Mark Foster have both declared no such political activity.

Notes to Editors

DCMS has around 400 regulated Public Appointment roles across 42 Public Bodies including Arts Council England, Theatres Trust, the National Gallery, UK Sport and the Gambling Commission. We encourage applications from talented individuals from all backgrounds and across the whole of the United Kingdom.  To find out more about Public Appointments or to apply visit the HM Government Public Appointments Website.
