TutorExtra has opened access to a database containing upwards of 650 UK exam boards and qualifications, enabling users to identify tutors according to awarding bodies such as AQA, Edexcel and OCR.

The searchable system incorporates major UK boards including Pearson (Edexcel), AQA, OCR and WJEC Eduqas, in addition to Scotland’s SQA and international options such as the IB and Cambridge Assessment.

Ofqual regulates the four key exam boards responsible for GCSE and A-level provision in England, ensuring comparable standards across the sector. TutorExtra’s filters utilise up-to-date tutor profiles to provide matches aligned with each board’s particular requirements, from exam formats to coursework structures.

Examples include GCSE Mathematics under Edexcel, where more than 500 tutor profiles are available, and A-level Chemistry with OCR, where specialists offer revision approaches suited to practical endorsement criteria. The platform also supports vocational qualifications such as BTEC and Northern Ireland’s CCEA, reflecting the broad nature of the UK’s qualification system.

This upgrade aligns with preparations for the summer 2025 exam session, where early entry data indicates continued demand in core subjects. By incorporating board-specific information into search functions, TutorExtra reduces the likelihood of mismatches, particularly in regions like Wales where WJEC is the preferred board.

“Parents often worry about syllabus specifics, so our exam board database puts the right tutor at their fingertips,” said a TutorExtra spokesperson.

Founded in 2018, TutorExtra has expanded rapidly to include thousands of tutors and maintains a commission-free model, strengthening its role as a nationwide platform for academic support.
