Michelin-starred chef Tom Kerridge has launched a gastropub range with Marks & Spencer that apparently took two years to develop.
The king of gastropub grub Tom Kerridge owns the only pub in the UK with two Michelin stars, The Hand and Flowers in Marlow, but he’s recently switched tack from Michelin menus to supermarket ready meals. For those who can’t make the journey to his acclaimed gastropub, or stomach the £175 price tag of its House Menu, the good news is you can now sample a flavour of Tom’s cooking with his indulgent The Gastropub x Tom Kerridge range at M&S.
According to M&S’ website, the chef spent two years visiting producers across the UK to source the best possible British produce and gain inspiration for the range. ‘[The range] is based on the principles I use in my restaurants and all the dishes are ingredient-led,’ he explains.
Each dish is based on recipes from his award-winning restaurants, and feature UK-sourced ingredients like 100% traceable British beef, Cornish sea salt and West Country cheddar. Dishes include starters, mains and desserts, which you can pick up separately, or as part of M&S’ Dine In for £15 deal.
Any pastry enthusiasts out there are sure to enjoy his serves-one pies which are made with a rich hot water crust pastry and include a classic Beef Pie, plus a spiced Chicken Curry Pie. ‘It took 168 iterations of the recipe to create a pie we were happy with,’ says Tom.
Elsewhere, starters include a luxurious pork pate made with pork liver and bacon and topped with a roast chicken stock glaze. While for main course, you can look forward to slow-cooked beef cheeks in a red wine sauce, and a braised lentil and creamed spinach cottage pie topped with Parmentier potatoes and West Country cheddar. Desserts provide a decadent full stop to a hearty meal with a show-stopping molten cookie dough filled with white and dark Belgian chocolate, and an elevated twist on a treacle tart.
All the dishes in Tom Kerridge’s M&S gastropub range:
- British Beef Cheeks
- Spiced Lamb
- Lentil Cottage Pie
- Pork Pate
