Make memories this Mother’s Day with a trip to the theatre that she’ll remember forever. There are plenty of shows that are perfect to see with your mum or send her on a trip with her friends.

With Mother’s Day on a Sunday, many shows will not be performing that day or only having a matinee so we’re widening our net to shows that are on the week of Mother’s Day or are opening soon that you can treat her to in advance. If you can’t decide on a show for her, or you don’t know when she’s free, give her the gift of choice with a Theatre Token.

The Devil Wears Prada

What’s it about? Based on the bestselling book and hit film, this musical follows aspiring journalist Andy as she takes a job at a prestigious fashion magazine for a terrifying editor. Will it be worth selling her soul to get what she’s always wanted

Why is it perfect for Mother’s Day? The Devil Wears Prada guarantees a luxury night out at one of the West End’s most lush theatres – the Dominion. Expect fashion parades, sassy one-liners and a string of hits written for the show by Elton John.

Oh mama

What’s it about? On the eve of her wedding in sun-soaked Greece, Sophie hatches a plan to finally discover who her father is. She invites three of her mother’s old partners to the wedding, but which one will take her down the aisle?

Why is it perfect for Mother’s Day? This show is fun-filled nostalgia. With a soundtrack of endless catchy ABBA songs and a story all about first love, this show ticks all the boxes for a feel good night out that’s been delighting audiences for 25 years.

Marie & Rosetta

What’s it about? This show is the story of Sister Rosetta Tharpethe roof-raising Godmother of rock ‘n’ roll who influenced countless musicians from Elvis to Johnny Cash, and her singing partner Marie Knight.

Why is it perfect for Mother’s Day? This musical celebrates the story of two women singing for each other and succeeding against the odds. Plus it features the incredible vocal power of Olivier Award winner Beverley Knight.

Les Miserables

What’s it about? This epic tale of love and redemption follows a former prisoner, Jean Valjean, as he attempts to escape his past and start a new life, amidst the backdrop of political turmoil in 19th century France.

Why is it perfect for Mother’s Day? With over 40 years in the West EndLes Misérables has proved its timeless appeal. With an array of familiar songs (I Dreamed A Dream, On My Own, One Day More), dramatic staging, and a cast of nearly 30 performers, this is a must-see musical night out for all audiences.

Moulin Rouge

What’s it about? Also set in 19th century France, this show follows struggling writer Christian as he tries to write a new show for the world famous Moulin Rouge. But trouble ensues when he and The Duke both fall for the irresistible Satine.

Why is it perfect for Mother’s Day? One of the most lavish nights out in the West End, even before the show begins you will be transported to the glamorous Parisienne nightlife. This musical makes for a great girls’ night out with its familiar pop and rock songs, enchanting costumes and electrifying atmosphere.

Six

What’s it about? Think you know the story of Henry VIII and his six wives? Think again. The queens are back to tell their side of her-story and they’re not holding back.

Why is it perfect for Mother’s Day? This show is here to celebrate overlooked women everywhere with a Tony Award-winning pop-inspired score and sharp-tongued wit, all wrapped up in an 80 minute feel-good concert.

Sweetmeats

What’s it about? Sweetmeats is a new play that follows two South Asian elders, sensible Hema and rulebreaker Liaquat as they face the pull of a romance they long thought they’d outgrown.

Why is it perfect for Mother’s Day? This intimate and charming world premiere will pull at her heartstrings in a delightful reminder of the power of love, no matter what age you are.

Titanic

What’s it about? Titaníque is a wild musical fantasia where the film Titanic is interrupted by the spirit of Céline Dion.

Why is it perfect for Mother’s Day? Titanique is a show like no other – part musical, part film adaptation, part cabaret, it is filled with risque humour, powerhouse voices and utter chaos. It’s not one to miss – plus for one month only, the show stars comedian Tom Allen until 12 April.

The Unlikely Pilgrimage Of Harold Fry

What’s it about? Based on a Booker prize-winning book, this musical tells the story of an ordinary man in an ordinary life who accidentally sets out on a pilgrimage from Devon to Berwick-upon-Tweed, meeting colourful characters along the way and reckoning with his own past.

Why is it perfect for Mother’s Day? This gentle and heartwarming musical about love, redemption and second chances is a delightful new show in the West End, nominated for the Olivier Award for Cunard Best New Musical. The script was adapted by Rachel Joycewho wrote the original novel, and score is by chart-topping indie musician Passenger.

Wicked

What’s it about? Set before The Wizard Of Oz, this story charts the hidden friendship of Glinda The Good and Elpheba the Wicked Witch

Why is it perfect for Mother’s Day? One of the West End’s most popular shows is now in its 20th year and is just as loved as ever, after the success of the two-part feature film.  But the screen can’t compare to seeing the show live and in person, on one of London’s largest and most impressive stages.
