While London’s late-night scene has plenty of options for those who know where to go, finding a bite to eat late at night can be a challenge. And while there’s nothing wrong with a tipsy kebab or burger, sometimes you want something a little more hearty and fulfilling. Enter 27 Old Compton Street – a new late-night Italian pasta bar that is set to hit the streets of Soho next week.
Inspired by Italy’s “Hot table” tradition – places for quick meals that don’t skimp on quality – 27 Old Compton Street will serve up scrummy pasta, wines, and cocktails, in an intimate setting that’s equally suited to quick lunches as it is a post-drinks-pasta-sesh.
Diners can enjoy the likes of Rigatoni amatriciana with pancetta and chillies, Pumpkin, ricotta and sage ravioli, Pea risotto with broad beans and asparagusand more. Plus, with dishes starting at just £10 a plateit’s also an affordable spot to chow down in the middle of London.
If the name of the restaurant sounds familiar, that’s because it follows the now-immediately recognisable format of restaurateur Nima Safaei’s other London restaurants. Safaei is also the brains behind Soho institution 40 Dean Streetand the recently-opened 64 Old Compton Street. The trio of restaurants bring the Italian spirit and la dolce vita to the bustling heart of Soho.
To celebrate the opening of the restaurant, the team at 27 Old Compton Street will be giving away 100s of free bowls of pasta . Across March 24-26, 100 free pasta portions will be up for grabs each day.
The pasta will be available on a first-come-first-served basis from opening each day – at 12pm. All you have to do is be among the first 100 to turn up and order the pasta each day.
A different dish will be available across the three days of pasta giveaways:
- Monday, March 24: Pumpkin, ricotta & sage ravioli
- Tuesday, March 25: Rigatoni Amatriciana with pancetta & killies
- Wednesday, March 26: Conchiglie with octopus ragu
That’s lunch sorted, then. But be quick, once the free pasta is gone, it’s gone!
Late-night pasta at 27 Old Compton Street
When we say late-night pasta, we’re not talking about a spot that closes its doors at 10pm. 27 Old Compton Street will stay open as late as 1 in the morning from Thursday to Saturday. For the rest of the week, it’s open all the way until midnight, every single day.
In keeping with the hot table experience, 27 Old Compton Street is for walk-ins only. After all, it’s the kind of spot where you’ll pop in quickly for a satisfying bite (and a glass of wine or two) before moving on to explore more of Soho – or head home…
Nima Safaei, founder of 27 Old Compton Streetsaid:
“The concept of ‘tavola calda’ instantly resonated with me – I wanted to create that spot for fast, high-quality food that doesn’t compromise on taste or flavour. 27 Old Compton Street will bring a slice of ‘la dolce vita’ to London and be a place where people can drop in effortlessly, knowing they’ll get incredible pasta, fab drinks and a buzzing atmosphere.”
So, next time you’re wandering around Soho for food after a night of drinking, or an evening at the theatre, grab a hearty bowl of pasta from 27 Old Compton Street.
