No, your eyes do not deceive you: summer has barely left the building and we’re already talking about Christmas. But look, based on the outrageous rate at which the rest of this year has whizzed by, the season to be jolly will be here before we know it – and we just wanted to give you ample warning. Because we’re nice like that.
London is soon to be adorned with tinsel and aglow with twinkly lights, and across the city, Londoners are getting ready to dust off their baubles and untangle their string of fairy lights. Somewhere that’s particularly prepared is Marylebone Village who has already announced the exact date that their Christmas lights will be switched on this year. We can’t knock their promptness, that’s for sure.
Merry Marylebone
Marylebone Village will be decking the halls on November 13 at their Merry Marylebone event. Taking place from 3pm-8pmvisitors can expect a whole host of festive activities, magical market stalls, live music, and – of course – an epic Christmas light switch on.
The lights themselves will be switched on at 6pm on the main stage on Devonshire Street. The event will be hosted by BBC London broadcaster (and Marylebone Village local), Jo Goodand the lights themselves will be switched on by a currently un-announced celebrity guest. Previous celebs have included Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Fearne Cotton, and Roman and Martin Kemp – so I’m sure we won’t disappointed.
Throughout the village, there will be an assortment of Christmassy goings-onincluding an array of musical and choral performances and a range of immersive activities, from bauble and wreath making to Santa’s Grotto. Artisan market stalls will be serving up a whole host of scrummy street food and there will be plenty of late-night Christmas shopping opportunities too. Sounds like a pretty dreamy way to kick off the festive season to us.
The Merry Marylebone event will be taking place on Wednesday November 13 from 3pm-8pm.
