Seasonal Activities
April is always a sweet month in London. The festivities of St George’s Day and the Easter holidays rejuvenate the city after a usually rainy March. There can be a mix of sunny, chilly weather and also days of clouds and rain. Before planning days out in London be sure to take a look at the forecast, especially if you’re going to the annual boat race.

Afternoon Tea: Things to Do in London in April

April is a great month for afternoon tea because many hotels and restaurants launch a Spring themed tea. This month I selected one that is pairing with an exhibition launch for you to try and a classic afternoon tea.

Fashion Meets Tea
An avant-garde afternoon tea inspired by the radical imagination and surrealist elegance of The V&A Museum’s highly anticipated exhibition, Schiaparelli: Fashion Becomes Art.
It launches 28th March 2026 at The Kensington Hotel.
Video on the experience coming soon! Make sure you are following on social media to see the tea.

I had the opportunity to experience the The Ruben’s at The Palace. It’s quite indulgent and you can have as much of the selections as you like. However, I paced myself well and found the three tiers of treats to be more than sufficient. If you’re looking for an afternoon tea in London that is lavish and delicious, give this one a go.

The Ruben’s at The Palace is an afternoon tea experience near Buckingham Palace.
It’s perfect for before/after a visit to The Royal Mews and truly represents the essence of British culture.

Things to Do In London in April: Pubs for Fish & Chips
This is perhaps the most popular time of the year for Londoners to get fish and chips due to weeks leading up to the Easter holiday. So, you can anticipate pubs and restaurants serving fish and chips to be quite busy, especially on Fridays.
Below is a list of pubs in London that we feel offer some of the best fish and chips in London. Most don’t take bookings, so you’ll probably want to arrive a little early on a Friday so you aren’t disappointed. And don’t forget Mr Sunny recommends a new pub every week in our Sunny News email!
