These London Bakeries Have Been Named Among The Best In Britain – And Are Competing For The UK’s National Bakery Of The Year Award 2025


London’s bakery scene is thriving, with six standout bakeries in the capital catching national attention by being nominated for the prestigious National Bakery of the Year 2025. This highly competitive award recognises the best bakers across the UK, celebrated for their exceptional bread, pastries, and cakes. It’s no small feat to be shortlisted from among 229 nominated bakeries nationwideshowcasing London’s continuing dominance in artisanal baking.

London bakeries nominated for the National Bakery of the Year 2025

The nominated London bakeries span diverse corners of the city, highlighting the breadth of quality baking available to Londoners. Here are the six London bakeries vying for the top spot:

Chestnut Bakery

With locations in Belgravia, Covent Gardenand Piccadilly, Chestnut Bakery has quickly become a beloved name in London, renowned for its decadent cakes and innovative sweet and savoury offerings.

Fortitude Bakehouse

Nestled in Bloomsburythis bakery is tipped for ‘yeast-y greatness,’ known for its craft breads that blend traditional techniques with contemporary flair.

Harrods Bakery

Located inside the luxury department store in Knightsbridgeits nomination illustrates the high standards and luxury angle scaled to meet London’s upper-crust clientele.

Dusty Knuckle

Found in Dalston and HarringeyDusty Knuckle is celebrated for its bold, flavourful breads and strong community roots, emblematic of the vibrant East London baking scene.

Milk Run

The new bakery extension of Balham’s popular Milk café, Milk Run brings a fresh, neighbourhood-focused approach with its range of bread and pastries adding to the local brunch culture.

Toad Bakery

Located in CamberwellToad embodies the creative spirit of the area with its artisan breads and baked goods.

The National Bakery Awards are not just about best-selling products but honour craftsmanship, community impact, and innovation in bakery.

Winners will be revealed at an exciting ceremony on November 25 at Big Penny Social in Walthamstow.
