Theresa Collins has been appointed managing director of The Star in Alfriston, East Sussex, a Polizzi Collection property.
His most recent role was as managing director at Glenapp Castle in Ayrshire, a role he took up in March of the previous year.
Prior to his role at Glenapp Castle, he was deputy manager at Cliveden House in Berkshire and hotel manager at the Royal Horseguards Hotel on London’s Embankment.
Hotelier Olga Polizzi, who serves as Vice President and Director of Design at Rocco Forte Hotels, founded The Polizzi Collection. He played a key role in the establishment of Rocco Forte Hotels in collaboration with his brother Sir Rocco Forte.
The Polizzi Collection’s portfolio includes notable properties such as Hotel Tresanton in St Mawes, Cornwall; Hotel Endsleigh, near Tavistock, Devon; and The Star in Alfriston, East Sussex, a property acquired by the Collection in October 2019.
The acquisition was also a significant milestone as it was the first time Polizzi had teamed up with his daughter Alex, known as Channel 5’s hotel inspector.
Star was previously owned by Polizzi’s father, Lord Charles Forte, as part of the Forte Group’s Heritage Collection.
Alex Polizzi, Head of Polizzi Collection, said: “We are delighted to welcome Theresa to Star to join us as a Director, we are sure she will be a great addition to the team.
Collins added: “Having had a successful time at Glenapp Castle, I am excited about this new challenge. I have long admired the Polizzi family and their three hotels in southern England. I look forward to joining the Star team and supporting Olga and Alex Polizzi in managing this beautiful property in the South Downs National Park.
The 37-room Grade II listed hotel, which dates back to the 13th century, underwent extensive renovations in 2020 and reopened in June 2021.
