Traditional Irish music icons The Wolfe Tones have just announced their last ever London performance and biggest UK show to date. It will take place at Finsbury Park on Friday 5th July.
Tickets go on general sale on Friday, March 15 at 09.00 – you will be able to buy them here. The artists will be supported by punk legends The Undertones, The Sharon Shannon Big Band, The Scratch and Brògeal.
Brian Warfield said: “The Irish diaspora worldwide have always been massive supporters of The Wolfe Tones, and no greater support than from the Irish in the UK! I wrote ‘My Heart Is In Ireland’ as a tribute to the Irish in England, Scotland and Wales.
“The London Irish have a very special place in our hearts, there are too many shows to mention but the fantastic nights at The National in Kilburn will never be forgotten. It is very fitting that The Wolfe Tones 60th Anniversary concert will be our last London concert performance.
“It will also be our biggest ever in the UK, headlining in Finsbury Park! We promise to make it a very special experience for what we hope will be a massive turnout as we bid farewell to London – Let The People Sing !”
The Wolfe Tones were founded in 1963 by two of the current members, Noel Nagle (tin whistle, low whistle, uileann pipes, vocals) and Brian Warfield (banjo, whistle, harp, piano, guitars, bodhran, vocals). A year later they were joined by the third and final current member, Tommy Byrne (guitars, vocals).
From humble beginnings in Dublin to the hallowed halls of Carnegie Hall in New York and the Paris Olympia, the group has captivated generations of Irish music fans worldwide with their own unique style. In a career spanning from the 1960s onwards, they have cemented their status as pioneers of the traditional Irish music genre.
Finsbury Park is on Endymion Road, London N4 1EE. You can Book tickets via Ticketmaster or See Tickets.
