When the weather outside isn’t playing ball (or even when it is, to be honest), there’s arguably no better way to spend an evening than inside a cosy, dimly-lit barwhere the candles are glowing and the wine is flowing. And that’s where Quill comes in.

Nestled under a former railway arch, Quill is an elegantly eccentric wine bar that’s been quenching the thirst of Londoners since it swung open its doors last year. Though still a relatively new kid on the wine bar block, don’t let that fool you. Quill has been brought to the capital by Fables and Company – the brains behind other London wine bar success stories, Plume and Finch. So, Quill certainly knows what it’s doing.

Tucked away in Borough Yardsthe candlelit cavern has become pretty renowned for not only serving up a delicious selection of wines from across the globe, but for conjuring up creative ideas and hosting theatrical activations whilst doing so. And they’ve just announced the launch of a shiny new event in their social calendar, which involves their customers writing a letter to their future selves.

Quill’s ‘Letter to Future Self’ evenings

On the last Monday or every month, Quill will host a ‘Letter to Future Self’ evening. Aimed at those wanting to set some positive intentions, participants will be given a wonderfully theatrical wax-sealed letter writing kit for them to write themselves a letter filled with their hopes, dreams, schemes, plans for the year ahead. Quill will hold onto the letters like a little time capsule, and post them back to the participants a year later. The event aims to offer visitors a calm and quiet moment to reflect and an inspiring way to set some goals and aspirations. Tickets for the event cost £20 and include a glass of wine to truly get the creative juices flowing.

If the letter-writing isn’t your cup of tea wine, fear not. You can still pay a visit to Quill, just to soak in the gorgeous atmosphere, and a sink a glass of two of grapey goodness. The wine menu comes in the form of an atlasso – quite literally – takes visitors on an adventure across the globe. The wines on offer are varied and extensive, meaning that you’ll be certain to find one you like. And chef, Rob Wadehas created a delicious menu of small plates, featuring the likes of a tea-cured scotch egg, a grilled cheese sandwich, and – of course – a British cheeseboard. Because you simply can’t have wine without cheese, right?

Quill’s ‘Letter to Future Self’ evenings will take place on the last Monday of every month, starting on January 27.
