The UK’s Busiest Train Stations Have Been Revealed – And A Major London Transport Hub Topped The List With 98 Million Annual Passengers

The Office of Rail and Road have recently had a good old rummage through their data to reveal the busiest and most bustling stations in the country. And look, I know it’s not a competition. But if it was, London would be taking home a lovely shiny item to shove into its trophy cabinet, that’s for sure.

The capital city (rather unsurprisingly) dominated the leaderboard. So much so, that when it came to the top ten, no other city got a look in. But which is the busiest station of allI hear you ask? Well, folks. London Liverpool Street has officially scored itself a hat trick, having been crowned Britain’s busiest station for the third year running.

The jam-packed station in the heart of the city saw a rather eye-watering number of passengers pass through its barriers between April 2024 and March 2025. A total of 98 million entries and exits were recorded at Liverpool Street throughout the year, which is 3.7% more than the previous year.

London Waterloo came in second place with 70.4 million annual passengers, marginally pipping London Paddington to the post. Paddington nabbed the third spot with 69.9 million passengers. Interestingly, six of the top ten stations are served by the Elizabeth Lineproving just how much that speedy purple line has impacted the city’s transport network.

The busiest station outside of the capital city was Birmingham New Streetcoming in at the 13th busiest UK station over all.
