If you’re looking for a feel-good place to host a celebration, The Rum Kitchen in Soho is sure to keep the vibes high. First off, there’s the venue’s fantastic location which is nestled within the bustling, creative hub of Kingly Court in Carnaby Street. Complemented by the other bars and restaurants in the area, Rum Kitchen has a great energy and feels like a party destination.
Inside, the decor is colourful and relaxed, so that you instantly feel at home. The ceiling features a playful mix of different woods, while the colourful bar is eye catching with a vivid pink, blue and mustard pattern bringing the space to life. Industrial seating dotted around and plenty of space makes the three-floor venue an atmospheric spot for socialising, enjoying a drink or two, and dancing the night away.
The Rum Kitchen is all about celebrating Caribbean culture, and so on the menu you’ll find cult favourites like the jerk chicken which is marinated for 48 hours, then cooked slow and low for another two before finally being crisped up on the grill for a flavour-packed dish with a delectable texture. The curry mutton is also famous, cooked carefully for six hours and paired with rice and peas and roti.
The menu spans several sections, beginning with starters and sharers like sweetcorn fritters with pineapple chilli jam, krispy fried cauliflower florets served with mojo sauce, and of course, the signature jerk chicken wings. Moving onto bigger plates and the dirty chicken fries sound amazing, tossed in jerk bbq sauce and topped with spring onions, chillies and scotch bonnet mayo, as well as the T&T chickpea curry with curried chickpeas, rice and peas, fried plantain and bara flatbread. Finally, buns like The Big Pat with jerk chicken and sliced pork with swiss cheese make for a wholesome, delicious meal to enjoy with family and friends.
