Fans learned of the disappointment surrounding Netflix’s upcoming release The Recruit Season 2.
The Recruit focuses on CIA lawyer Owen Hendricks when he accidentally becomes involved with a dangerous criminal and sets off a global mayhem adventure full of political drama and thrilling action.
Per Deadline, the series was renewed for Season 2 about a month after Season 1 debuted on Netflix in December 2022, but no indication of when the new episodes will be released has been released.
Disappointing Season 2 release update for The Recruit
Deadline confirmed The Recruit won’t be returning to Netflix in 2024.
According to Netflix, production continues The Recruit Season 2 is set to begin in January, with the cast and crew filming in Vancouver, Canada and Seoul, South Korea. However, it is still unclear when filming began.
Performance features Black Adam Noah Centineo co-stars with Owen Hendricks Guardians of the GalaxyLaura Haddock, Marvel/DC star Nathan Fillion and other big names.
Season 2 was greenlit after the massive success of the first season, which was watched 95.59 million hours in its first week of release, according to Netflix’s TUDUM.
When is The Recruit Season 2 coming out?
For reference, season 1/ The Recruit began production in October 2021 before the series’ first episodes debut on Netflix in December 2022, marking a 15-month turnaround.
If Season 2 follows a similar timeline after starting (at the latest) in January 2024, fans can expect new episodes to arrive on Netflix in the first half of 2025, likely sometime in the spring.
As for the events of next season, Season 1 ended with an intense and high-stakes chase, with Max’s daughter Karolina taking Owen hostage and Laura Haddock’s Max shooting his own mother.
Along with this cliffhanger, show creator Alexi Hawley shared new information about season 2 with Collider, explaining how she knows where she wants to go with the story and how “bold” and “dramatic” he had to be with it:
“I know things about where I’d like to take it and where I’d like to go with it. I mean, of course you hope for success, but as you can see after that ending, I wasn’t planning on failure because I feel like in this day and age you just have to be brave, you have to to be dramatic at the expense of everything else.”
The Recruit Season 1 is now streaming on Netflix. The second season is currently being filmed, although it does not yet have a public release date.
