The Passion of Jesus is a theatrical event portraying the final days of Jesus, held in Trafalgar Square. The production takes place on Good Friday (Friday, March 29 this year).
There are two performances, held at 12pm and 3.15pm and it is completely free of charge to attend. It is very popular so visitors are advised to arrive 40 minutes before the production start time but do not need to book.
It is supported by the Mayor of London and features 100 Wintershall players. Set in the iconic location of Trafalgar Square, the play is open air.
Due to popularity and large crowds expected there will also be a large screen in place so that everyone can see the action. Wintershall note that parental guidance is advised as it features a lifelike re-enactment of Jesus’ crucifixion.
If you are unable to make your way into central London, the presentation will also be livestreamed on Facebook. The company’s powerful biblical outdoor dramas have been said to be ‘hugely moving and impressive’.
An attendee of a previous play said that ‘at times in the crowd you could hear a pin drop’. You can find all the details on the Wintershall website.
You cannot bring banners or placards to the performance or any glass items. There is a full list of prohibited items in Trafalgar Square on the same page.
