There are plenty of questionable storylines in Love Actually, but none more confusing than the fact that a couple in their twenties could afford to live on a dreamy mews in Notting Hill.
St Luke’s Mews is the setting for that scene in Love Actually – you know, the one where the guy confesses his undying love to his best mate’s wife – yep, that one. And just in time for our annual rom-com reenactments, a house on that exact same street has popped up on the property market. And it could be yours – if you have a spare £2.75million knocking about, that is.
Now it is Christmas (and at Christmas you tell the truth) so we must caveat that it’s not the exact house that Kiera Knightley’s character lived in. It’s on the same street, though – and can be seen on screen as Mark (Andrew Lincoln’s character) walks away, uttering his iconic: ‘enough now’ line. So that’s good enough for me.
The three-bedroom property is set out over four floors and features a picture-perfect, pastel-green facade. It comes complete with a ‘feature staircase’, a fancy wine fridge, and the smug feeling of living on one of the most sought-after streets in the city.
“Properties on this mews are always in high demand and this pastel green exterior epitomises the colourful aesthetic charm of St Luke’s Mews, now world renowned due to its cameo in the Christmas film Love Actually,” said Jack Thomas, sales manager in Knight Frank’s Notting Hill office. This newly refurbished mews home has been meticulously redesigned to feature elegant, open plan living spaces which seamlessly blend with its outside space of both garden and south facing roof terrace.”
Look, all I want for Christmas is a house in Notting Hill. Is that too much to ask?
