The creator behind Netflix Agent of the night gave fans a promising update on the possible release of Season 2.
Based on the novel of the same name, the streaming action thriller brought FBI agent Peter Sutherland to the small screen as he pursues a sellout at the highest levels of the US government.
After a hugely successful first season (which became Netflix’s most watched show in the first six months of 2023), season 2 was announced and production began earlier this year.

Night agent season 2 gets teased
Agent of the night writer Matthew Quirk teased fans in a recent interview while talking about the second season of the hit Netflix series.
Quirk, who wrote the Book on which the series is based, hinted in a post on his Instagram page that he has been involved with Season 2 during the post-production process.
He told fans, “I watched season 2 early” and that “It’s on its way and it’s going to rip completely:”
“You never know who you’re going to run into” at Night Agent HQ. Top two: showrunner Shawn Ryan and season 1 star DB Woodside. I got to see season 2 early. It’s on its way and it’s going to rip completely.”
This is the first real update the series has received since filming wrapped in mid-June, and it could signal when the hit show will finally air.
For principal photography Agent of the night Season 2 lasted from 5 February 2024 to 18 June.
Season 1 appeared to end at the same time from 2022, meaning that another batch of episodes could be a similar post-production plan that will eventually lead to release.
The first season Night agent filming was completed in June 2022, and took about nine months before it was finally released in March 2023.
If Season 2 follows a similar release, it will likely be released sometime early next year – possibly March 2025.
What to expect from the night agent season 2
Agent of the night Season 2 is an exciting and worrying prospect as it begins to prepare for its Netflix release.
Fans are sure to be excited to see the hit streaming series return for a second go-round, but it’s doing so without the foundation of a story.
Season 2 will be a completely original story, like Night agent author Matthew Quirk published only one novel on which the series is based. Season 2 will have to venture into uncharted territory.
Of course, this is not an unprecedented move; other hit TV shows have done this sort of thing before. Major names like Game of Thrones, Big little liesand The Virgin’s Tale have all ventured beyond the boundaries of the book they were based on, so a playbook is written on how to handle something like that Agent of the night try to do.
It looks like Quirk has been heavily involved in the creation of Season 2, so audiences shouldn’t be too worried about the show straying too far from where its original writer saw it going.
The biggest change in the second season is the change of scenery in the series. While Season 1 took place largely in the US capital (Washington, DC), Season 2 heads northeast to the hustle and bustle of New York.
This new area contributes to the twisting story of FBI agent Peter Sutherland’s second adventure. Its location in the Big Apple could mean many things in the Season 2 storyline.
Institutions based in New York, such as the United Nations, can greatly influence the show’s new conspiracy plot. Or maybe Agent Sutherland will engage in some Machiavellian plotting on Wall Street in this new one Night agent shaking.
This move could prove to be incredibly important for the future of the show and open up a whole Pandora’s box of narrative possibilities for the Netflix series.
