the new Garden Kitchen cafe inthe gardens of the Natural History museum

Although we all know that it’s what’s on the inside that really counts. Over at London’s legendary Natural History Museum, the outside has got a whole lot to offer, as well. You may remember that last year, their five-acre gardens underwent a rather monumental makeover. They were transformed into a verdant paradise, complete with a big old bronze Diplodocus statue. Well, it seems as though the glow up didn’t end there, as the museum has just revealed that their brand new café has opened its doors, slap-bang in the middle of the gardens.

The Garden Kitchen will offer a vast, open-plan space for visitors to sit back, relax, and soak up the sights and sounds of nature. Open to museum-visitors and members of the public alike, the café will offer a cosy and comfortable spot for guests to immerse themselves in the museum gardens which tell the story of life on earth, starting a whopping 540 million years ago.

On the menu at the Garden Kitchen

Open daily from 9.30-4.30pmthe Garden Kitchen will be serving up a seasonal menu courtesy of Benugo’s. Early-birds can sip on the cafe’s slow roasted coffee and tuck in to a selection of pastries. Whilst afternoon-visitors can enjoy the delicious likes of fish and chips, Sri Lankan curry, and Ceasar salad. A selection of sweet treats will also be served up for those in need of an afternoon pick-me-up.

Robert WetherellHead of Events and Catering at the Natural History Museumsaid: “This tranquil oasis in the heart of London offers the perfect respite with delicious warming meals, seasonal vegetables and perfectly-brewed coffee – all with a view of urban nature and the Evolution Garden, where our newest diplodocus Fern gazes down on an immersive timeline of life on earth, told through flowers, plants, geology and brass inlays of creatures.”

You’ll find the new Garden Kitchen in the gardens of the Natural History Museum, near Fern the Diplodocus at Cromwell Road, South Kensington, SW7 5BD. It is open to the public from 9.30am to 4.30pm daily. Find out more and plan your visit here.
