All Points East are returning to Victoria Park this summer for two jam-packed weekends of great music and they’ve just announced the first headliner. The Maccabees will take the Tower Hamlets stage on Sunday, August 24 for what will be their first show in eight years.
The exciting news comes a week after the Toothpaste Kisses rockers revealed a new logo on social media and sent fans into a frenzy. The London band said an emotional farewell in 2017 with three sold-out nights at Alexandra Palace before breaking up after 12 years together – but now they’re back.
In addition to performing, The Maccabees have collaborated with the All Point East team to put together an amazing line-up of artists they love. We don’t know much about who’s on the bill yet but details will be revealed soon.
The East London gig will coincide with the 10th anniversary of the band’s critically acclaimed album Marks To Prove It. Guitarist Felix White said: “In the intervening years we’ve been to All Points East a lot, separately. It’s become a bit of a landmark festival for us, always checking who’s on the line-up.
“I would go and have a great time all day, but there was always a twinge of regret when I saw the headliners that we could have done it ourselves one day too. I thought that moment had passed, and that was something I was prepared for coming to terms with what I’ll always miss. I think we’re all a little shocked and excited that we get to do it together again.
