The investment forms part of a nationwide £45 million rollout aimed at reducing childcare costs, supporting working parents, and ensuring every child gets the best start in life.
Officials said the expansion will help working families in London, where high costs and limited places have long put pressure on parents balancing jobs and family life.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer said: “As a parent, I know how hard it can be to juggle work and family life. These new school-based nurseries will make a real difference for families across London – cutting costs, simplifying daily life and giving children the best possible start.”
Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson added: “By targeting new nursery places in the areas that need them most, including across London, we are making sure more families can access high-quality early education close to home.”
The move complements wider cost-of-living support for London families, including:
- 30 hours of funded childcare, saving families thousands of pounds
- Free breakfast clubs, worth up to £450 a year
- Action to cap school uniform costs
- Expansion of free school meals
