Doctor Who star Ncuti Gatwa is all over the place right now after the latest season of the sci-fi BBC show began and he’s quickly moving his talents to the stage too. It was recently confirmed that Gatwa will be directing a new edition of The Importance of Being Earnest this winter.
Taking place at the Lyttelton Theater in south London, Gatwa will be joined by Sharon D Clarke and Max Webster in the Oscar Wilde play. Starting in November 2024 and running until January 2025, the show follows the iconic story of Wilde’s Jack Worthing.
While Jack finds it “boring to be sane”, things turn around for him when he lets loose in a city under a false identity. At the same time, his close friend Algy leads a similar life.

The Importance of Being Earnest tickets go on sale Thursday, May 23, 2024 at 12.00. At the time of writing, these tickets are only available via the National Theatre’s official website here.
It will be the first time the tickets will be available to the public, after they were previously made available to members of the National Theatre.
