The work of Banksy can be seen scattered around the country, and the latest work by the illusive artist has just arrived in North London. A green and vibrant smattering of colour has glowed up the tree beside a block of flatswith the artist confirming it was their work after photos began surfacing.
Given the prestige of the artist, people were unsurprisingly pretty excited by the whole thing. But will someone out there be pumped up enough to turn that excitement into the bid needed to land the block of flats for themselves?
Following the revelation of Banksy’s work, the landlord of the flats has since spoken about his newly-famous piece of property.
Speaking to MailOnline, Alex Georgiou, owner of the properties, said: “I was having a bit of a laugh with the girls who were saying I was gonna put the rent up 250 per cent but no no. I doubt it.
“Unless we have a massive Banksy fan who is prepared to pay over the odds. But a property is worth what a property is worth. You know what, if somebody offered me millions and they can have the building and take the flats with it. Feel free.
“They can come knocking if they want. Give me a number in an envelope and whoever has the biggest number can have it.”
So, the good news for current tenants is that it looks like Banksy hasn’t caused a hike to the rent. But it does look like the landlord’s head has been turned about the prospect of selling the properties on for the right price, which could mean a change to prices down the line.
It also, of course, means you could own the properties if you have the cash lying around and fancy owning a space with a beautiful piece of Banksy’s work. However, if you do take up the current landlord’s offer, we urge you to do so without using the opportunity to put the prices up. We all know how expensive London already is and quite frankly, no one needs to be charged any extra than they already pay. Consider yourself ‘warned’ by Secret London.
