Independent luxury hotel collection Kaleidoscope Hotels has acquired the Dukes Hotel in Bath, expanding its portfolio to four properties.
Located on Great Pulteney Street in Bath, the Dukes Hotel offers 17 bedrooms in two terraced houses. Originally known as St Monica’s, the property went through several changes before adopting its current Dukes identity in 1985 in honor of the Duke of Clevedon.
Under Kaleidoscope’s ownership, renovation works are being carried out in the hotel, covering all bedrooms and public spaces. In addition, a boutique wellness facility will be put into use as part of the renovation.
The sale of the Dukes Hotel was carried out by the global real estate service company Savills. James Greenslade, Head of Hotel Capital Markets, said: “This exceptional property is the perfect addition to the buyer’s portfolio of stunning hotels. The hotel is stylishly decorated with antiques and artwork, and has a number of offers subject to planning permission. The Dukes remains open, providing excellent service to its customers.”
Ian Taylor, co-owner of Kaleidoscope Hotels, said: “The integration of Dukes into the Kaleidoscope portfolio will focus on continuing to bring our playful spirit to the world of hospitality, while fostering a sense of community among the great team and bringing them into the family with a smooth transition.
He added: “Going forward we are looking at exciting synergies across the portfolio, particularly with The Bird, which is next door to Dukes. As a collection of hotels, we enjoy being different and look forward to bringing this unique approach to Dukes when it becomes part of Kaleidoscope Hotels.”
The Dukes Hotel joins Bishopstrow in Wiltshire, Homewood in Somerset and The Bird in Bath in the Kaleidoscope Hotels collection.
