Best Budget
Metabo HPT 10-Inch Single Bevel Compound Corded Miter Saw
Pros
- Large cutting blade for the price
- Broad miter angle range
- Lightweight design
Cons
- Only bevels in one direction
You won’t find a better deal on a compound miter saw than with this model from Metabo. Despite costing less than almost any other miter saw I came across, its specs impress.
A 15-amp motor powers its large, 10-inch blade. With a miter angle range of 52 degrees in either direction, it trims precisely and without hassle, and its built-in clamping system keeps workpieces secured to the table while you cut.
The Metabo HPT 10-inch miter saw is also one of the lighter models I found, weighing in at just under 25 pounds. Lighter miter saws are easier to store and transport to a job site. Its single bevel design limits its ability to make certain cuts, but still, it’s an excellent value for the money.

Best Cordless
Craftsman V20 Compound Cordless Miter Saw
Craftsman’s 20-volt cordless compound miter saw lets you cut the cord (not literally!) at a price that’s in line with what you’d pay for a corded model. It comes equipped with a 7.25-inch blade and plenty of slide capability.
The miter saw cuts well through lumber up to 8 inches wide at 90 degrees and 5.5 inches wide at 45 degrees, though its single-bevel design limits its versatility to some extent.
A 20-volt motor powers it to reach max speeds of 3,800 RPM, about what you would expect on a battery-powered miter saw. With its included 4.0Ah battery, you’ll get about 585 cuts on a single charge. And since it weighs just 22 pounds, it’s easy to transport.

Best Cutting Capacity
Kobalt 10-Inch Dual Bevel Sliding Compound Corded Miter Saw
Pros
- Can cut through 12 in. wide boards
- Broader miter cutting range
- Dual bevel design
Cons
- No cut line feature
With its 10-inch blade and sliding capacity, this Kobalt saw offers some of the best range on the market. It cuts through boards up to 12 inches wide at 90 degrees or 8 inches wide at 45 degrees at a depth of up to 4.5 inches thick. This large cutting capacity makes it a great budget option for projects that require you to make a lot of cross cuts through wider dimensional lumber.
It also cuts at broader angles than most miter saws, with max miter cuts of up to 55 degrees to the left and 60 degrees to the right. Plus, it executes bevel cuts of up to 48 degrees to the left and right. Simply put, you won’t find another miter saw with more cutting capacity at this price point.

Best Portable
Ryobi 18V ONE+ 7-1/4-Inch Miter Saw
Pros
- Bevels in both directions
- Lightweight portable design
- Good blade speed for cordless model
Cons
- Limited cutting capacity
Ryobi has made a name for itself by producing cordless power tools that rival those from pricier brands. This miter saw is one of them. It reaches cutting speeds up to 4,000 RPM and gets up to 900 cuts on a single charge, plenty for just about any home project. It’s versatile, too, with an ability to bevel in either direction up to 45 degrees.
And since it weighs less than 20 pounds, it moves easily in and out of storage. If you’ve already bought into the Ryobi family of 18-volt cordless tools and own a Ryobi battery or two and a charger, this combination of price and function is as good as it gets.
