A Temporary Commissioner has been appointed at the Police.
Police Commissioner, Angela McLaren, is currently away from work while she receives treatment for a musculoskeletal condition.
Assistant Commissioner Pete O’Doherty has been appointed as Temporary Commissioner of the City Police whilst the Commissioner is away from work.
Chair of the Corporation’s Police Authority Board, James Thomson said:
“Assistant Commissioner Pete O’Doherty is well qualified to step into the Commissioner’s role and he has my full support.
“This appointment will ensure that the City Police has the right level of leadership resilience and capabilities in place to continue to meet its local and national policing responsibilities.
“We wish Angela a speedy recovery and look forward to welcoming her back to the City soon.”
Pete O’Doherty joined the force in January 2022 as Assistant Commissioner.
He started his policing career in the and was previously Assistant Chief Constable at Thames Valley Police where he was the Southeast Regional Lead for Counter Terrorism, and Serious and Organised Crime.
Temporary Commissioner Pete O’Doherty said:
