A tunnel connecting two platforms on the Elizabeth Line

It’s certainly no secret that over on this corner of the internet, we’re pretty fond of London. Filled to the brim with gorgeous things to look at, exciting things to do, and delicious things to stuff your face with; it comes as absolutely no surprise to us that London has made an appearance on a recent list of the world’s best places to visit. What has surprised us a little bit, however, is the exact ‘attraction’ that’s been named on that list.

When you think of London’s must-visit destinations, there’s a fair few that spring to mind, right? Big Ben, the London Eye, the Tower of Londonone of the city’s many wonderful museums, parks, and restaurants… The list of London locales worthy of a shoutout is a pretty lengthy one.

But something that wasn’t on my 2025 bingo card was a London Tube line being named one of the best places to visit. Not just in the city, but in the whole world. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and all that. And this particular beholder (online travel platform, Bloomberg) has named London’s Elizabeth Line as one of the 25 very best places to visit this year. Each to their own, I suppose.

Now look, I want it to be known that I have absolutely nothing against the Elizabeth Line. Spanning the entire breadth of the capital and beyond, the handy high-speed line has certainly made traversing the city a whole lot easier. And on its busiest days, the Lizzie Line sees over 800,000 passengers hop aboard; so it’s doing something right, that’s for sure. But do I think its comparable to the likes of Antigua and Barbuda, Seville, or the Seychelles? Probably not.

Each year, the travel-experts over at Bloomberg curate their list of the world’s 25 best places to visit. This year’s list is packed full with some of the most spectacular spots scattered across the globe, from Japan and Jaipur to San Diego and São Tomé and Príncipe. And perched proudly between them all is our trusty Elizabeth Line. Bloomberg hailed the purple line a must-visit destination due to its proximity to many of London’s most exciting new openings. Bond Street, for example, gives travellers easy access to brand new hotel, Chancery Rosewood, whilst Liverpool Street enables visitors to hop off the train mere moments from Gordon Ramsay’s shiny new restaurant inside 22 Bishopsgate.

The best places to visit in 2025, apparently…

  1. Algeria
  2. Seychelles
  3. Los Angeles, USA
  4. Portillo, Chile
  5. Skane, Sweden
  6. Costa Palmas, Mexico
  7. Japan
  8. Canary Islands
  9. Out Islands, Bahamas
  10. Egypt
  11. Lexington, Kentucky
  12. Rotterdam, The Netherlands
  13. San Diego, USA
  14. Cap Ferret, France
  15. Antigua and Barbuda
  16. Rome, Italy
  17. Bangkok, Thailand
  18. The Colombian Amazon
  19. Jaipur, India
  20. Seville, Spain
  21. Sao Tome and Principe
  22. The Elizabeth Line, London
  23. Paros and Antiparos, Greece
  24. Greenland
  25. Upper East Side, New York

If nothing else, the Elizabeth Line makes getting to Heathrow Airport a whole lot easier. Just saying…
