For films this week we have the horror Look Away where Maria, a lonely 18-year-old high school student, opens up to her reflection because of the lack of support she has from family and her peers. She switches place with her supportive, but evil, twin that she discovers in the mirror’s reflection, but the newfound freedom unleashes suppressed feelings. 21 Bridges which sees an embattled NYPD detective get thrust into a citywide manhunt for a pair of cop killers after uncovering a massive and unexpected conspiracy. In Crime Diaries: The Celebrity Stylist (which is based on true life events) when a celebrity stylist is found stabbed to death next to his mother, a young detective is given 20 days to solve the case. In Doi Boy a refugee builds a new identity as a sex worker in Thailand, but he gets caught up in a client’s risky scheme that might lead to a better life. I Don’t Expect Anyone to Believe Me sees a young man who wants to be a writer travel to Barcelona to study literature. However; when he arrives in the Spanish city he gets caught up in a criminal business. In Elena Knows a woman with Parkinson’s leads a relentless investigation into finding those responsible for the sudden death of her daughter. Finally for this week we have the Turkish rom-com Last Call for Istanbul where a chance meeting at the airport leads two married people to an unforgettable night full of excitement, desire, and temptation in New York City.
For TV this week we have the Scandinavian crime drama A Nearly Normal Family the world of a seemingly perfect family shatters when a shocking murder proves that they’re willing to make desperate moves to protect one another. In the anime My Daemon to save his mother, a kind-hearted boy and his tiny daemon friend set out on a journey across post-apocalyptic Japan as dark forces close in. In Olóládé when two friends suddenly become rich in unexpected ways. It seems too good to be true — until they get entangled in a deadly money laundering scheme. The Railway Men – The Untold Story Of Bhopal 1984 is based on the true story of the tragedy and shows how after a deadly gas leaks from a factory in Bhopal, brave railway workers risk their lives to save others in the face of an unspeakable disaster. In the Filipino drama Replacing Chef Chico when a head chef falls into a coma, it’s up to his devoted sous-chef to keep their Filipino fine dining restaurant from closing down. Finally for this week we have the game show Squid Game: The Challenge which follows contestants as they compete in challenges based on the Korean children’s games featured on the Squid Game to win a $4.56 million cash prize.
Documentaries this week include Hatton Garden: The Inside Story uses key surveillance and exclusive testimonies, to detail the search for the unlikely crew behind one of Britain’s largest heists. In Ilary Blasi: The One and Only Ilary Blasi shares the emotional and powerful story of the much-discussed end of her marriage. The Ladies with Style follows a soccer team in South Africa on their journey to the final game of the first CAF Women’s Champions League tournament in 2021. The Psychopath Life Coach follows the journey of Lewis Raymond Taylor, who transformed from a criminal to the CEO of a multi-million-dollar business. Using innovative animation and expert insights Stamped from the Beginning, explores the history of racist ideas in America. Also added this week were the second seasons of High on the Hog: How African American Cuisine Transformed America and My Grandparents’ War.
For children and families this week we have Leo which sees a 74-year-old lizard named Leo and his turtle friend decide to escape from the terrarium of a Florida school classroom where they have been living for decades. In Batman: The Animated Series the Caped Crusader struggles to overcome his demons while battling Gotham’s most notorious villains, including the Joker, Penguin and Harley Quinn. In the preschool series Masha’s Spooky Stories Masha explains why there’s no need to be scared of things like monsters, the dark, going to a new school, thunder and other common childhood fears. In Pokémon Ultimate Journeys: The Series Ash and Goh chase their goals — and embark on more amazing adventures — as their journey through the wild world of Pokémon continues. In Pokémon: To Be a Pokémon Master: Ultimate Journeys: The Series Ash, Pikachu and their two friends Misty and Brock travel around helping Pokémon in need — all while being watched by a guardian in the sky. Finally for this week we have Steven Universe which sees a group of magical guardians called the Crystal Gems teach a boy to use his special abilities as a human-Gem hybrid to help them protect humanity. Also added was My Little Pony: Make Your Mark chapter 6.
