Playwright and director Miranda Lapworth brings her critically praised Storms, Maybe Snow back to London for a four‑night run at The Cockpit from 25 to 28 March.

The play has previously been described as “a dextrously-written and snappy family drama” (A Youngish Perspective) and praised for its “wonderful musing and longing speeches and gorgeous wordplay” (Fairy Powered Productions).

Greg Wise has called the play “a truly glorious play”, and its exploration of a relationship in crisis follows Jack and Lou as they retreat to their beach house after an unwelcome diagnosis.

Their daughter, Mariana, and her partner, Isobel, arrive for Jack’s birthday, sparking a tense reunion where humour, grief and long-buried resentment collide.

The cast features Jenny Lloyd-Lyons as Lou, Neil Sellman as Jack, Steph Sarratt as Mariana, and Esme Seber as Isobel.

Staged by Lovely, Dark & Deep Productions, the piece is directed by Lapworth, whose previous work includes Busted Flush and Bharat, Blighty & The Bard.

The production has been supported by respected figures in British theatre and was highly commended by the National Theatre, offering what Adventures in Theatreland described as “beautifully written scenes that showcase Lapworth’s writing”.

Actor Rupert Vansittart also said: “Your play is absolutely excellent. It is elegant, enlightening and hugely entertaining…And what a cast! All superb!”

Audiences can expect moments of wit, fury and emotional reckoning, including what Spy in the Stalls called “a beautiful moment…when Isobel sings a love song; put to music by Ward Baker, it is worthy of Sondheim.”

Storms, Maybe Snow runs at The Cockpit, Marylebone from 25 to 28 March at 7.00pm, with tickets priced at £20 and £16 for concessions.
