Cameron Monaghan’s Cal Kestis is expected to return for another gaming adventure Star Wars Jedi 3. Here’s what we know so far about its release, plot, characters and more.
After some tumultuous years, Star Wars video game exclusive publisher Electronic Arts (EA) struck gold Titanfall a third-person action-adventure game from developer Respawn Entertainment Jedi: Fallen Order.
The hit Star Wars title put players in the shoes of Cal Kestis, a Jedi Padawan who survived Order 66 thanks to his master’s sacrifice. 2019 Fallen Order spawned a sequel in 2023 Survivorwhich the players again praised.
The Jedi the game franchise has even gone beyond the interactive experience with the new Book Battle scars dives into Cal’s story between games.
Star Wars Jedi 3 release date: When is it coming out?
Fallen Order and Survivor director Stig Asmussen told IGN at the launch of the latest installment how he “always wanted to see this as a trilogy” pointing Jedi 3 is likely, especially given the success of the first two games.
Respawn Entertainment posted various job postings for the new project, which shows Star Wars Jedi 3 had started development. Job Listing for Senior VFX Artist – via ComicBook – Unreal Engine 5 experience listed “big plus” suggests that the third game might upgrade from Unreal Engine 4.
In the same interview with IGN, Asmussen explained how the update to Unreal Engine 5 – which he called “pretty sure assumption” – no “be easy” as the studio develops “property matters” from previous games that now take time “make it work on any new engine:”
“I’m not going to say it’s going to be easy. I mean we have a lot of proprietary things that we’ve got the engine to do what it’s doing to the Jedi right now and we’d have to rework something. to make it work on any new engine.”
Lead actor Cameron Monaghan confirmed at Ocala Comic Con in Florida in September 2023 that Jedi 3 is under development. But his comments seem to indicate that the game is still very much in its early stages:
“We’re working on a third (game) and we’re doing it right now… So it’s a big undertaking and there’s been some discussions so far. But hopefully when it’s all said and done, we can go in and make you guys something really cool again.”
Fallen Order started development in 2014 and took five years to be released in 2019 Survivor four years later in 2023. Jedi 3 likely won’t be released until 2027 or 2028, especially if it takes Respawn extra time to adapt to Unreal Engine 5.
However, the trio is also facing an unfortunate setback after Asmussen has led the charge in the last two games. Jedi franchise, left the studio in September 2023 – via IGN.
A statement from EA’s spokesperson confirmed this “Veteran Respawn executives step up to lead team” ahead. Currently replacing Asmussen as manager Jedi 3 not yet announced:
“After careful consideration and consideration, Stig Asmussen has decided to leave Respawn to pursue other adventures, and we wish him the best of luck. Veteran Respawn executives will step up to guide the team as they continue their work on Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. .”

Towards the end Eat: Survivor, protagonist Cal Kestis openly embraced the dark side and used his powers to defeat Bode. Going in Jedi 3, the young Jedi is likely still tormented and relies on bringing his companions back to the light. But maybe before that, players will get a chance to use more dark side powers.
After the deaths of Cere Junda and Eno Cordova, Cal could begin to take on a larger role in the Hidden Path, helping shield force users across the galaxy. With the group now on their way to Tanalorri, the Hidden Path may be using the secret Outer Rim planet as a base. Jedi 3 start.
Fallen Order and Survivor it took a five year time jump between games, and there’s always a chance Jedi 3 can do the same. Missing out on adventures would give Cal time to grow stronger, foster relationships, and build
Cal and Merrin’s friendship turned romantic Survivorand it will likely only continue to grow Jedi 3 when he tries against him on the light side of the force.
Which characters will appear in Star Wars Jedi 3?

Apparently Cameron Monaghan’s Cal Kestis will return to the lead Jedi 3and he will no doubt be joined by his fellow Mantis Greez, Merri and the ship’s newest addition, Bode’s daughter Kata.
Although Jedi Knight Cere Junda was killed by Darth Vader in Survivorhe may return to continue advising Cal in the next game as a power ghost.
As Cali continues to become a more experienced Jedi, it may be time to cross paths with others from this era, such as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ahsoka Tano, Yoda, and Kanan Jarrus. He could easily run into any number of Jedi through his new connection to the Hidden Path.
Speaking of Hidden Path, since Cal has been closely involved with the group, maybe he could run into some of its members on Disney+. Obi-Wan Kenobi. First, O’Shea Jackson’s Kawlan Roke could be added in seamlessly Jedi 3 because the founder of Hidden Path runs into Cal at some point.
Darth Vader has appeared in a brief role and in boss battles in the first two Jedi games, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Sith Lord make another cameo in the next installment of the franchise. Maybe he could even kill Cal Kestis if this ends up being the last chapter of his journey.
Which console will Star Wars Jedi 3 be released on?

Eat: Survivor was passed over for the last-gen PS4 and Xbox One at launch, but the studio has since started “early development” in the port to old consoles, despite initial plans to avoid them a “A true new generation experience.”
By that time Jedi 3 will be released in 2027 or 2028, Respawn will definitely port them fully for PlayStation 5 (PS5), Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
In the FTC trial of Xbox’s purchase of Activision Blizzard – via IGN – court documents revealed Microsoft’s expectation that the next generation of consoles would begin in 2028 with the PlayStation 6 (PS6) and any Xbox as its next machine.
If Jedi 3 falls on the latter end of the estimated debut of the release in 2028, it is possible that it will be released for both current and next-gen consoles.
Or at least it will likely see a port to PS6 and the next Xbox, just like Fallen Order came to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, two years after its original release.
Will Cal Kestis ever appear in a live-action Star Wars?

Cal Kestis’ character design works as a near-perfect refresher for voice actor Cameron Monaghan, so Lucasfilm surely wouldn’t have a hard time bringing the young Jedi to live action or finding an actor to play him.
Insider Kristian Harloff shared the rumor from June 2022 “someone (he has) trusted in the past” claims that Cal Kestis is set to helm the live-action Disney+ show, which Monaghan is supposedly signed on for.
When Monaghan himself was asked about taking Kestis to a live film, the actor did not want to comment, but teased how “the interest is:”
“Well, of course there’s interest. That’s all I can say.”
The actor later stated in December 2022 that the focus will be on securing Kestis “satisfying arc in games” of the seemingly questionable live-action crossover, at least for now:
“It’s been really great to do that within video games, because I think games are so under-explored and under-utilized, and they’re just now getting what they deserve — people are looking at games and seeing them as amazing and moving and significant. . So my priority right now is to make sure that we have a satisfying arc in the games.”
As franchise director Stig Asmussen confirmed “always wanted to see this as a trilogy” Star Wars Jedi 3 may well end Cal’s playing adventures. And with that character arc complete, the chances of Monaghan bringing his Jedi to live action only increases without the risk of spoiling or limiting the games.
As for the era in which Cal Kestis could appear, one would assume that he would have the strongest chance of appearing in the Reign of the Empire era, which spans between Episodes 3 and 4. So far, the only projects announced for this era are Lando and And or Season 2, neither of which is likely to involve Cal.
MandoVerse may offer Cal Kestis one path to live action, but by then the Jedi should be in his 30s. Then again, any chance of the young Jedi appearing in any postJedi 3 adventures depend on his survival in what might be his last journey in the game.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Survivor are now available for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC, previously also available for PS4 and Xbox One.
